Monkton
Well I've been driving my Cutlass around for the past few days since the right tire on the Mitsubishi went to hell. The entire reason I stopped driving it is because of a skip in the engine that causes the car to stutter and just drive rough, but it's never been consistent. Well it pissed me off tonight and for some reason I shifted from Drive to 2nd and my problem went away. Obviously I can't ride around in 2nd all the time A) it's loud as hell with the laughable exhaust I have It burns through gas like a mother C) It's not good for the car. So anywho, could my problem be something in the Drive gear?
Crazy K
more likely than not, it is a tune-up issue. propapbly a miss-fire that is less noticable at higher rpms. when did you last do plugs, clean this and that..... oh.... what year and motor in the cs? marcusa
I had a smimilar problem in the Saturn. Turns out one of my plugs failed and melted itself, along with my wires, onto the engine. So I'd check plugs and wires first, just don't zap yourself! Monkton
I did everything this summer. Plugs, coilpacks, ECU, sensors, coilpack housing and a lot more. Overall it was about $500 and all it got me was from a constant engine skip to one that is randomly timed.
Crazy K
tried seafoam in the gas and thru a vac hose? Wait, is you exhaust system bad? how bad? lack of back pressure could be partially to blame. 3.1 motor, correct?
Monkton
2.3 Quad4 and my exhaust is shit. I'm honestly begining to think that when my Dad did the exhaust he messed it up. He said that he had to piece it together using different size piping. I don't know how but he said he did. To my knowledge the majority of the piping on my car is 2 1/4'' and it's loud as hell even with a stock cat and muffler.
