gp90se
Chris and I are figuring that bracket for the tranny is the reason my motor isn't straight. The 4t60e in my car has a TGP 4t60 bracket on with a 4t60e mount. does anyone know what the size differences between the brackets are or know if the 4t60 bracket can be modded to fit the 4t60e right (bolts on directly but sitting to low slanting the drivetrain)
19Cutlass94
The mounts are alos different as well. It could be that using a 4T60 bracket with a 4T60-E mount could be the problem as well.....
mfewtrail
The 4T60 and 4T60-E transaxle mounts are identical(same part #'s). Do you have any pictures of how the engine is sitting? Also, are both your lower engine mounts on properly for the DOHC(you are running a DOHC in that car aren't ya?)? EDIT: Have any of you compared the 4T60 vs. 4T60-E bracket side-by-side? I'll take a look at both of mine tomorrow when I get a chance to see if there's any noticeable differences...

I think with the later 4T60e fluid-filled mounts, the lower mount studs are further apart, and on some cars, the frame bracket has two sets of holes for either mount. This is what I've seen on some mid-production cars.
gp90se
I do not have a 4t60e bracket to compair the 4t60 bracket to. I ordered both mounts from autozone, I already have the talled one in. The 3.4 mounts are right, I think. The p.side sits at the right ride high, but the motor slopes down toward the drivers side, no pics at the moment. I put in a subframe mount from a 96 GP that has 2 sets of mounting holes, but that wasn't the problem. mfewtrail, if you could check between the 2 brackets, it would be a huge help. I think there will be about 3/4" difference between the mounting locations.

mfewtrail
I haven't had a chance to compare them yet, I should be able to take a look at them tomorrow evening though.

mfewtrail
any updates? Nope, I haven't got around to comparing them yet. I *really* should be able to take a look at them sometime tomorrow afternoon or evening though since I don't have much to do tomorrow. digitaloutsider
I've seen mounts that were purposely short to make the engine sit lower (like if you had a big intercooler on an L67). Maybe it's just a short one.
mfewtrail
Here's a picture of a 4T60-E lower bracket(the car is a '94 Regal 3800/4T60-E combo). I compared my '93 4T60-E/3.1 MPFI car vs. my TGP and the brackets were identical, my 93 only had the one set of mounting holes just like the TGP(they use the set of holes that are further forward). Now, does anyone have a picture of the bracket from a DOHC car? I think it's going to have the mounting bolts in the place of the ones in the picture I took since both the DOHC and 3800 have two lower engine mounts and they're pretty similar(I believe they share the rear mount, but the front is a little different between them). The transaxle mounts were the same exact height on all the cars I looked at fwiw.
stockgp
what year trans mount are you using? i had the same problem with my mom's lumi a couple weeks ago when i swapped a 93 60e into her 95. the 93 mount is a bit longer between the lower mounting points, so you have to use the other set of mounting holes with it. i would try using an 88-93 mount and see if that helps. gp90se
there are 2 different rubber mounts, 1 for the 4t60 and 1 for the 4t60e. I have the bigger mount on the TGP bracket but it's still not tall enough. I think for the time being (and next warm night) I will use washers to get the motor even, but it will be a temporary fix. In order to really figure out the problem, I will need to buy a 4t60E bracket and swap out the TGP 4t60 bracket.
