Speedo Ain't Working!

HELP!!! My speedo isn't working! I hit a bump a while ago and it never worked since. I was told I may have knocked a sensor loose from the tires, but which tire is it on? What does it look like? OOh, an 88' Cutlass 2.8

It's not on your tire. It's near the RH CV axle, there should be a connector on the top of your tranny there. The sensors on the wheels, actually near the outer CV joint, are for ABS, which your car doesn't have. Those are wheel speed sensors, but not the vehicle speed sensor, VSS, that runs the speedo.

Check the wirings to the VSS but I believe it is you Digital Cluster. You may have to resolder the IC (integrated chip) connectors first and then test it.

Also, check for leaking capacitors (it looks like crud on the capacitors).

It wasn't worked even before the digital cluster was installed. Where exactly is the VSS? What does it look like? How wou I remove it?

I think it's the VSS or ECM, or wiring in between.

You might have to pull off the right wheel to see the VSS.

I think you are right. The tire on the passenger side is called the right front tire. The orientation is done as if you are inside the car looking through the front windshield.

OK, there was this 2-prong plug loose behind the pass. side tire and I cleaned it off and just plugged it back up. I can't see if that's it because the starter's front bolt hole broke off. I gots the good lucks!

Ok, I just finished putting the starter back on (took longer to get to the parts store) and tryed to drive it, and the speedo is now working! But the RPM gauge isn't. It's always something.....
