digitaloutsider Posted November 8, 2006 Report Posted November 8, 2006 Okay, I'm wanting to upgrade the line that runs from the battery to the auxiliary positive terminal since everytime my system is turned up and it hits, the lights dim and it's starting to really annoy me since it isn't even that high powered of an amp. At any rate, the only thing I have to do is run a new wire from the battery to the post, right? I already bought it. It fits fine, i just don't want to fry anything. Do I have to remove the old wire that already runs there? Thanks in advance. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted November 8, 2006 Report Posted November 8, 2006 You have your power wire for your amp hooked up to the AUX post? Honestly, upgrading that wire alone wont help. Youll need to actually do the 'Big 3' to see any real gains in voltage. Quote
slick Posted November 8, 2006 Report Posted November 8, 2006 Yep, what Jay said. There really won't be any noticeable gains until you redo your factory wimpy 10-8 guage grounds, and run a a new, fused, line from your alt to your battery. Quote
digitaloutsider Posted November 8, 2006 Author Report Posted November 8, 2006 Will do. I was just doing this since that wire running to the alt. post looked so shitty in the first place. I didn't install the system or I would have done it properly. Quote
slick Posted November 8, 2006 Report Posted November 8, 2006 Just be sure that when do you upgrade your grounds to clean the metal to get any surface rust or paint off before screwing the new grounds down. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 And you use ALOT of di-electric compound.... Quote
digitaloutsider Posted November 9, 2006 Author Report Posted November 9, 2006 I went ahead and upgraded this wire anyway. It helped a TINY bit from what I can tell, but yeah.. I need to do the rest. What other wires (specifically) do I have to change? Quote
BCM Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 My lights dim when i roll up the window or push on the brake Quote

What other wires (specifically) do I have to change? Grounds: Battery to block, Battery to chassis, and block to chassis(if you can find it). Power: And, if your feeling really good, go ahead and add a line from your alt to your battery. Keep the stock one there, in place and hooked up, but add another, larger guage wire that is fused. slick Posted November 9, 2006 Report Posted November 9, 2006 Thanks Chris! No problem. Have any others, just lemme know. BTW, the easiest and best way to crimp 4 guage connections is with a bench vise. Quote
