cutty
I hope i don't make this sound too confusing but, i wanted to know what i will need to have my radio to stay on when the key is turned off. Like how some of the newer Gm cars keep the radio on when the igintion is turned off. I want to know what all i will need and how i would go about doing this. I tried searching but couldn't find anything. so any and all help would be great
Psych0matt
wire your remote wire on the stereo to the constant 12v, not the ignition 12v
cutty
hmm.. would i have to splice it since the remote wire is going to my amp
Psych0matt
you would have both your + constant and + remote (on the stereo) going to the +constant from the harness.

Psych0matt
wrong... i think he wants it to stay on until the doors are open ... is that correct? well that's what i figured, but this would be the simplest way. run a switch to the door via a relay

GnatGoSplat
I think you can get an RAP (Retained Accessory Power) module from a miniquad Camaro or Firebird of the same era. Aftermarket modules probably also exist. Many alarms also have RAP built-in, that's what I use in my 89. The DEI Viper alarm has RAP built-in, although unlike factory RAP that shuts the radio off when the door is opened, the DEI RAP keeps the radio on until the door is opened then shut.
