3100 Studdering? What could it be?!

Alright guys, i've been absent from this forum for a while but I've run into a problem.

Out of nowhere (car is running perfectly fine) I start my 1999 Monte Carlo and the car starts to shake, something like a bumpbumpbumpbump-continuous bumping. I put it in reverse (I was in a parking spot) and it gets worse, it also got worse when I applied more gas. It does the same thing in Drive. It feels like I've lost a good chunk of power. When I got up to highway speeds the bumping went away for the most part (lower RPMs meant less studdering).

So I'm thinking its misfiring, the exhaust feels like an automatic air gun (think puff, nothing, puff, nothing) Its cooling off right now and I'm gonna pull the front 3 plugs to see if I can find anything odd. *keep in mind these plugs are only 2-3 months old.

What do you guys think?

Sounds like a spark issue, but I could be wrong.

I'd start out by testing your fuel pressure at idle and at like 2000 rpm.

I'd check your plugs/wires. When I changed my plugs last time one was bad and did teh same thing.

Sounds like youve dropped a cylinder! Same thing happened to me ( several times  ) Id check your plugs, then coils, making sure you have spark.

BTW, does the exhaust smell like fuel, like a shit smell?

make sure your wires are correct. But if it just started doing that, then maybe one came loose. Check those damn plugs. Is the SES light on?

I'm gonna scan it tonight or tomorrow. The plugs looked okay on the front. How can I make sure the plugs are sparking? The plugs are Bosch Supers , wasnt there something about the ignition system on our cars killing these plugs? It's been a while

Get those out of there ASAP and pick up some AC Delco's. Much cheaper, and proven time and time again to last longer.

I wish they were cheaper here, the Boschs were just a little over a dollar a piece and the ACDs are about 6 bucks. Hopefully this does the trick. I'll go grab some tomorrow.

Wish me luck.

So why would you go cheap and put ones in that are known to suck in these cars?

AC Delco's shouldn't be that much anywhere, maybe that was the platinum plugs?

I would check for spark, it could be a coil, ICM, etc.

I had already put those plugs in before I read that they weren't the greatest. ACDs are going in tomorrow after school.. I'll scan it after that if it doesn't help.

GET THOSE BOSCH PLUGS OUTTA THAT CAR ASAP!!! That is more than likely the source of your problem. So, how long did they last before they went to hell on you? Chances are it wasn't for that long...

Wow 3k...that's pathetic. That's worse than I was expecting actually. I was thinking they'd last 5k or more but damn...

I replaced the plugs and cleaned off the ICM contacts...

Yeah, those Bosch plugs are ridiculous. When I first put them In they felt okay because my plugs that were in there were far past due (two women owners) But now, the difference is nuts, my shifts/idle/cruising is all wayyyy smoother.

Shes back!

Thanks guys

post pics of the plugs if you can!

Already trashed them, the tips were rounded off though...

And thanks Jay
