replacing the stock speakers

ok, I am looking for some new speakers to replace the old tired ones that are in them now. I'm not looking for anything crazy, and nothing insanely expensive, I was thinking something like this:

or this:http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3/pg/product/details/0,,2076_310069904_168472238,00.html

I kinda want to stick with pioneer because I have had nothing but good expierences with their products, but am not totally against any others. Does anyone have/had these speakers, what do you all use? Any opinions/advice is welcome.

Thanks, Dan

IMO, for the retail price your going to spend on a set of 6x9's, i'd replace your front speakers first. Your rear speakers are nothing but rear fill, and thats it. Anything you hear behind you is in mono, whereas anything you hear on the sides or in front of you is in stereo. Why have the best speakers in the rear if your not truly hearing everything it's doing?

But... if your set on blowing lots of money on a set of 6x9's, I'd go with something like JBL, Polk, Focal, Clif Designs, or MB Quart. Something along those lines is far superior to Pioneer, and can be found much cheaper than the prices in those above links online.

Yes, very true, but I'm more interested as to which he has. If he has door speakers, he can modify the stock mount to fit a set of 5.25" components for sure, and possibly even 6.5" components(which would be even better).

Put some 6.5"s in your doors.

Here's some pics of Infinity co-ax I got off ebay that I put in my old 88 GP. Nevermind the riced out painted doors . They had 4x6 in the stock location, which I had to hack up the doors a bit to make them fit, but definatly was worth it. 4x6s sound like ass, doesn't matter what brand you buy. In my 95 I have 5.25" Infinity components and I like them very much.

did 91-93 gps come with door speakers from the factory? if so I would like to find new door panels that already have speakers and then upgrade those, I need to replace my door panels anyway so this would make sense.

I doubt that the speakers will be mounted to the panel. they would be mounted in the door, low enough to let the window go all the way down.

They are actually mounted on plastic mounts about halfway up the door, below the window switches. The speaker's themselves never see the inside of the actually door. The door panels on these cars are humongous.

Another brand to mention is Infinity. You can get their Reference Series for half the price of those Pioneers and they will sound better IMO. or if you want to spend $$, you can get their Kappa series which are awesome.

check out this website for lots of brands and really good prices.
