98 Grand Prix gtp front door speakers help

So I pulled my door panels off and saw that they were not a standard size speaker. There is a plastic baffle piece that mounts the speakers. I need help to figure out what speakers to order or how to modify the baffle to allow a standard speaker in the factory location. Any help, thanks...

You will mount your aftermarket speakers to the factory plastic mount.

 

You *should* be able to fit a 6.5" speaker there with a bit of modification. If not, a 5.25" speaker will bolt up.

I've tried that. Unfortunately the baffle will not allow a larger speaker to fit.

5.25" fits with absolutely no problems whatsoever.

 

You can "encourage" a 6.5" to fit, also. I've seen it done numerous times.
