black_97_ls Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 Okay, so my truck never gets driven since it's outside of school, and we can't park it in the garage. I have talked to my mom about this, and as much as it pains me to do so, I think I might have to sell it sometime in the near future. I am looking at around $6200 give or take to play with, and am wondering what I should replace it with. I don't need a truck, I want decent gas mileage (26+), and I want something that will fit in my garage at home. Another important thing is it has to be good on ins. and not have rediculously high rates. here's what I was looking at '92-'96 GP sedan -- no granny hubcaps though, just sawblades '92 -'96 GPSE 2 dr '99 + GA 4 dr Thanks for the suggestions. 19Cutlass94 Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 Most w-bodys will be pretty decent on insurance rates. Ive always liked the older GP's but none around here are in good condition.... Quote
black_97_ls Posted November 3, 2006 Author Report Posted November 3, 2006 Yea I looked up ins. rates on a GTP and, well there goes my dream Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 Well they ( the insurance ) consider it "performance" because its a supercharged v6. Now if you compare that rate to a Quad 4! Theres a big difference! Quote
97loudcut Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 Yea I looked up ins. rates on a GTP and, well there goes my dream i believe the earlier GTP's like 91-93 were just considered grand prix gt's Quote
black_97_ls Posted November 3, 2006 Author Report Posted November 3, 2006 oh? Were the earlier ones not supercharged? Quote
black_97_ls Posted November 3, 2006 Author Report Posted November 3, 2006 I found a white 4 door with barely 106k for $1900. Would be a decent commuter car, plus I like the white + white look. Quote
GP1138 Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 Keep in mind that '97 GTP's are not considered GTP's by insurance. They are simply GT's with an option package. And you could easily find a '97 GTP for less than $5k IMO. Quote
black_97_ls Posted November 3, 2006 Author Report Posted November 3, 2006 I was just worried cuz I am gonna be paying my own ins. Thanks for the clearup man. I will be GTP hunting. Quote

Euro Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 yeah, just spend what you can on a Straight up A to B car. then save the rest for mods for the monte! Quote
black_97_ls Posted November 3, 2006 Author Report Posted November 3, 2006 No full coverage. I do agree with Monte Mods, but I like idea of having a second fun car as well. Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 cool, full coverage would be nice but for the premium & dedctible it just isn't worth it in some cases. liability on my Regal GS = $191 every 6 months full coverage was $550 every 6 months with a $1000 deductible!!!! fuck that! and yes, a 2nd fun car is very nice to have Quote
black_97_ls Posted November 3, 2006 Author Report Posted November 3, 2006 too bad for practicality's sake it wont be a GTP likely. I'm just looking around right now, and I have only found TWO Regal GS' and only 3 GTPs around here in my range. Quote
Rdrckt_92 Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 thats better then here, I havent found any in my range, any worth buying. The ones that are for sale around here are either too expensive or beat to shit. For some reason, people around here hold on to their w's FOREVER, I'm suprised I got mine Quote
black_97_ls Posted November 3, 2006 Author Report Posted November 3, 2006 both the GTPs I've seen have excess of 120k. I am honestly looking for something with around 110k or less. Quote
Rdrckt_92 Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 that isnt really that bad, if the car has been maintained like it should have been then it wont be an issue. but I here ya, the lower the miles the better Quote
black_97_ls Posted November 3, 2006 Author Report Posted November 3, 2006 I just want the comfort of knowing that my new vehicle will last along time. Quote
digitaloutsider Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 Um.. 120k miles is just getting broken in IMHO My Regal has 212,000 miles. Still going strong. Quote
Euro Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 Um.. 120k miles is just getting broken in IMHO tell that to my dad. he wont let me touch a new W-body if it has more than 90k miles on it. and..scratch my original idea, if you have that money to spend from your truck, save the monte as your DD, and get a new toy(like whats being discussed) Quote
black_97_ls Posted November 4, 2006 Author Report Posted November 4, 2006 I kinda want a GP 4 dr to modify a bit. Not a GTP because that would ruin the 'sleeper' effect. PM me and I'll till you the details. Quote
Rdrckt_92 Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 get a 4 door gtp and take the badges off...sleeper effect still there Quote
black_97_ls Posted November 4, 2006 Author Report Posted November 4, 2006 true. I want something not so conspicuous. I really like the '88-'93s more than the '97+ although, I wouldn't turn a 2 dr down. Quote
