jerry455 Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 I just joined today but I have been reading for about a year and a half. I have a 1990 red with tan ,sunroof,cd and leather 1G5WP14V26F217141. I just finished rebuilding the motor and the turbo. A valve seat came out of the head just before christmas and broke the piston and combustion chamber in the head. It only has 109,000 miles. Now i am looking for ideas to improve the performance. I put in the 1.6 rockers when the motor was going back together. Quote

ON THE TGP FORUMS, SOMEONE WROTE THAT MY CAR MAY BE ONE OF THE FIRST PRODUCTION TGPS IF NOT THE FIRST.IF ANYONE KNOWS. PLEASE LET ME KNOW. Quote
ManicMechanic Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 The VIN posted above yours is much earlier than yours. Th 440T4 IS the 4T60. Quote
RICHTGP Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 ARE YOU SURE? HIS 9TH DIGIT IS AN 8 AND MINE IS A 0. ALSO THE LAST SIX NUMBERS OF HIS VIN ARE MUCH HIGHER THAN MINE. ALSO, THERE ARE DIFFERENCES IN THE 4T60 AND THE 440T4. FOR INSTANCE, THERE IS ONE FIBER PLATE IN THE FOURTH CLUTCH ON THE 44O AND TWO ON THE 4T60. ALSO DIFFERENCES IN THE VALVE BODY. Quote

I'm planning on getting my vin numbers posted into an actual online database sometime soon... Quote
