97loudcut
So I am thinking that my wheels might be 17x8 instead of 17x9. I am getting them unmounted sometime soon to get them powdercoated. I have a couple questions. If my wheels are 17x8, is it wierd that I am running a 255 tire? Also my profile is 45 with a 17" wheel. When I get new rubber should I stick with the 45 tire, I will be lowering the car also. And when I get new rubber and I conclude that the wheels are infact 8" wide and not 9" should I go with a 245 instead?
5speedz34
Why not just measure the rim first to be sure. And just find a tire that the manufacture recommends for something that wide.
19Cutlass94
Your not going to notice 10mm difference in width of the tire. Just find a common tire size for that rim size.

kuntzie
with a 45 profile on an 8" rim you can go to a 265 series no problem. i wouldnt go bigger though. i have 255 45 16 on my tgp (16x8)
97loudcut
I am asking though, for a 17 inch wheel..should I be running a bigger profile like 50? or is 45 sufficient? this is for looks
19Cutlass94
Just get the correct size tire for that rim, so that your speed will read fairly accurate. Who cares if you have a 50 or a 45 sidewall. Not like someones gonna be haha you have a 50sidewall you loser....
slick
A 50 series sidewall will make it look like you have 16's instead of 17's. Go with 245/45/17 tires.

z34_nut
My Konig 17x7's run 255/45/17's...
z34_nut
oh, and I remember that when you told me your wheels were 9" wide, I was crazy confused because with a small offset, the cobra 17x8's would have come damn close to rubbing. So I was crazy confused as to how you managed that. Also, my 17x9.5's on my Z28 run 275's and I can go as big as 285's.... sooo yuh.
