GrandAmSE Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 Ok the batterys charged and is brand new. The volt gauge shows 13 volts. But the car will not even try and turn over. Could it be the starter? The battery kicked the bucket last night luckly when I was in the advanced auto so I just had to buy one and put it in. Went to the car today and it will not start. So I think maybe I didn't put the cables on tight enough or the alternater is shot. So I charge the battery and it still will not start? Little help! Quote
kuntzie Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 do the lights turn on.. on the dash/ headlinghts ect.. if so then is most likely your starter. Quote
GrandAmSE Posted November 2, 2006 Author Report Posted November 2, 2006 Yeah they do. I'm think I might just say screw the 3.4 and park the GTP and put a 3800 S/C w/ a 5speed. Quote
FordBoy Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 Either the starter or the seloned (sp) is junk. I cant spell for shit!! Quote
GrandAmSE Posted November 2, 2006 Author Report Posted November 2, 2006 Ok I pull the starter and have another GM starter. They mount the same and the nose cone are the same but the selonod on the new one is a little bigger. Can I use this one? Quote
97loudcut Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 What's the new starter out of? Quote
GrandAmSE Posted November 2, 2006 Author Report Posted November 2, 2006 Not sure what car but I know it fits a 3100. Quote
CNBZ34 Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 Do a voltage drop test on your positive cable from the battery to the starter. Make sure you do not have internal corrosion in the cable that is causing a voltage drop. Viltage difference should be less than .3 to .5 volts. Quote
slick Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 Not sure what car but I know it fits a 3100. It will fit then. Quote
digitaloutsider Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 Make sure the connections on the battery are tight. That can commonly cause a no-start condition. Quote
GrandAmSE Posted November 2, 2006 Author Report Posted November 2, 2006 Fixed thanks. I also replaced the power cable to the battery with 1 gauge wire. Where can I get a Big 3 upgrade kit for my car. Quote
