kfahn
Found a kit to improve shifts at the link below, and I am wondering if anyone has tried it, or anyhting like it, or if the whole thing is just horseshit. http://www.7453217467431.com/products/productDetails.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=133761&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=48801&affID=3136&bmUID=1053996717078
Robby1870
It might work, but that is for a 4L60E. Not the 4T60E found in our cars Robby
Justin
Here's my kind of "shift improver" Seriously, for a firmer shift, try an adjustable modulator. Another old hot rodder tip is to use Type F (old Ford) transmission fluid. It's a little less slippery, and will cause marginally firmer shifts. Looks like I need to get busy with the 3M Trim adhesive, eh?
Robby1870
Man, I completely agree with you on the 5spd. Thats my next major mod, rebuild a 5spd this summer, install it next summer. Will an adjustable modulator work on a 4T60E? I know it will work on a 4T60. Robby
Justin
Ah...missed that "E" part. Easiest way would be to call a parts store and see if you can get one. They're pretty easy to see, too, they just sit on the front of the tranny, nearest to the fans. On the 4T60 anyways...
Robby1870
yeah, Im doing the adjustable modulator when I get home next week. However, I have never heard of a shift kit for a 4T60E. Yeah, the modulator is really easy to change Robby

kfahn
ok, i'm stupid, what is/does an adjustable modulator do
Robby1870
the vacuum modulator is what controls shift firmness. It uses engine vacuum to do this. With an adjustable modulator, you can adjust your shift firmness, which is what a "shift kit" will do. However, if you have a 4T60E this wont work. Only 4T60s and I guess 3T40s would be able to do this Robby
