Yeah, I would have code M also. Would the code J ones bee the newer ones, the ones that have the 175HP?

That would be correct, although some older engines are code J and some newer ones are still code M. I have a good picture showing a couple of the pistons in question from a code J engine showing various degrees of wear, I can mail it to someone if they have a site to host it.

Don't worry guys, it isn't just the 3100's that make that lovely noise. Hell, this Grand Am GT I just got with the 3400 is the loudest out of all the 3100's I've owned, and also the lowest mileage one. 2 minutes and the sound is gone. I don't even worry about it. :roll:

easy just take a screenshot of MS Word and load it into photoshop :)
