Jon That would be correct, although some older engines are code J and some newer ones are still code M. I have a good picture showing a couple of the pistons in question from a code J engine showing various degrees of wear, I can mail it to someone if they have a site to host it. here you go Quote

Hell, this Grand Am GT I just got with the 3400 is the loudest out of all the 3100's I've owned, and also the lowest mileage one. 2 minutes and the sound is gone. I don't even worry about it.
