pwmin Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 i found that dupli-color makes a small bottle of touch-up paint (aerosol) in the color of my gp as well as many gm colors (but not my riv). i couldnt find the correct color (in any local stores) so i emailed dupli-color. here is what they said: Paul, Thank you for visiting the Dupli-Color web site, we appreciate your interest in our products. If you could provide me with the city, state, and zip code where you are located I can search your area for that product. You may also contact the Dupli-Color Where-To-Buy at 1-800-247-3270 (press option #2 for dealer location). They will ask for your city, state, and zip code to set up search parameters. The Dupli-Color Where-To-Buy Line can track all stores, vendors, distribution centers, etc. that have purchased/ordered a particular Dupli-Color product within the last six months. This will allow the Dupli-Color Where-To-Buy agent to pinpoint the closest store to your location with current stock. This should make your search much easier. You may order the Dupli-Color Products directly through Ace Direct at 1- 800-441-4223. There are no minimum order restrictions nor surcharges for popular colors through Ace Direct. Less popular or slower moving products here again, will have a minimum order restriction or surcharge added. The main advantage of ACE Direct is the large service areas and storage facilities available. You have a better chance of ordering a touch up paint that is considered "popular" or "fast moving". You may also order the Dupli-Color Paints on-line through http://www.etouchup.com. E-Touch Up's Website is fairly self explanatory to navigate. The Dupli-Color Product Line is available through retailers such as Napa, Murray's Discount Auto Stores, CSK Auto Store (Checkers, Schucks, and Kragen), Trak Auto, K-Mart and Wal-Mart Stores. If your local retailer does not have the product in stock, NAPA can special order it in for you. Actually any retailer/dealer who handles the Dupli-Color Product Line can special order non-stocked items. Note: Some retail stores will only order the product if the consumer is willing to purchase a case quantity (cases can contain quantities of 3, 6, 12 or 24, depending upon the product). Otherwise they may add a surcharge to the purchase price of a single aerosol can or touch up paint. This is why you will at times get the answer: "We do not carry that product", "That product is not available", or "We can not order that product". If the store is not able to move a product quickly, they will have to set on the excess stock. Understandably, not all vendors are willing to take on the extra stock nor do they have adequate storage space for the thousands of colors available. Once again thank you for your inquiry and good luck with your project. Regards, Ray Quote
THe_DeTAiL3R Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 I'm very pleased with the spray cans. Painted my spoiler with it and it looks great! Quote
Hairdo12 Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 If you can't get a hold of a can of the color you need, most auto body paint shops will mix the paint and inject it into an aersol can for you. Carquest did it for me when I needed paint for a side mirror for my fathers grand prix. Quote
pwmin Posted October 27, 2006 Author Report Posted October 27, 2006 that was my second choice but i figured it would be cheaper this way and i was too lazy to go do that (but not to sit at the computer forever trying to figure it out ) Quote
pwmin Posted October 27, 2006 Author Report Posted October 27, 2006 http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/rodi/guide.duplicolor.domesticspraypaint.html there, you can order just about any color from there. im still waiting on napa to see if they can order me some. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 We ( well napa ) carries just about everything that dupli-color has. When I got my spoiler painted, there was like 5 different color options for my color. I had to choose what shade was closest. I had the paint guy mix it for me. But I found the touch up ( the ballpen and brush ) that they have, and it didnt match my paint at all when it dried. And if you look close at some spots where I did it, it looks funny. Quote

Anyways some paint matches perfect (red, white.. basic colors), silver and metallics are always a PITA to use. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted October 28, 2006 Report Posted October 28, 2006 yeah Ive still got a little bit left over from when my spoiler was painted, and my friends dad told me if I need to do any touch up, just get a finishing nail, and use that paint from my spoiler to apply it. Well its a cheap solution to having paint mixed. Even though itll match, still, some people are cheap. Quote
