scotty Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 I found a 97 cutlass supreme that id like to buy, the guy said his mechanic said the problem was a transmission sensor? this is the first ive ever heard of one, the guy said the car will run for bout 10 miles and says it feels like it goes into neutral. does this sound like this sensor or something else? Thanks Scotty Quote
Euro Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 sounds like a sensor to me. I believe thats how the mod on here(jeremy) bought his last cutlass. said the trans was "shot" and bought it for cheap, but all it needed was a trans sensor and it was fixed Quote
digitaloutsider Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 Sounds like the TCC solenoid. I could be wrong, though. Quote
scotty Posted October 26, 2006 Author Report Posted October 26, 2006 Ive only seen pics of the car so far, looks in really good shape, for 800 bux im not gonna pass on the option if i can get it. i have a wrecked 91 with same engine/tranny, i know everything was good on mine, so if its a simple pull from one onto the other sounds like a good idea. any more input would be great, and maybe a location of this sensor? digitaloutsider Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 Your '91 doesn't have the same engine or transmission. Quote
scotty Posted October 26, 2006 Author Report Posted October 26, 2006 3.1 different between those yrs? Quote
digitaloutsider Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 Your '91 has the Gen-II 3.1L MPFI V6 and the non-electronic 440T4. (at least i'm rather positive it came with the 440T4 instead of the 4T60e) The '97 has the Gen-III 3100 3.1L SFI V6 and the 4T60e. Quote
Regal_GS_1989 Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 Digital's right. Your 91 will have the 4T60, not the 4T60E like the cutlass does. Quote
scotty Posted October 26, 2006 Author Report Posted October 26, 2006 ahh, makes sense. so ill still have tons of parts..lol... Quote
