CPSMonteZ34 Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 Alright guys, I just need some input here: I plan to buy new wheels for my wife's car and use her stock wheels for the winter tires. The stock size is 15x6 and the new wheels are 15x7. I plan to use the stock tires on the new wheels since they have only seen 32k kms so far. Is the diameter of the new wheel at 7" (1" wider) going to pose a significant problem for the 195-55-15 tires? Quote
97loudcut Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 I don't even think they will fit properly...195 is too skinny Quote
CPSMonteZ34 Posted October 22, 2006 Author Report Posted October 22, 2006 I forgot to mention, these aren't for a w-body. They're for her Optra5. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 195 is pretty skinny, Im not sure they would fit correctly. I mean at that point, safety is an issue. Normally 215's and 7" wide rims. Quote
CPSMonteZ34 Posted October 22, 2006 Author Report Posted October 22, 2006 Thanks for the replies. I grabbed my brain from the nightstand and thought I should just check for this information through TireRack.com - it turns out the stock Hankook Optimo H420's have a rim width range that measures 5.5" - 7" so it looks like I'm in the clear. The tread width is 6" overall, so I end up with roughly 1/2" extending on each side of the wheel edge. The ride is comfortable for my wife, so she doesn't want to make it harsh; therefore, no taller wheels for any lower profile tires. Quote
5speedz34 Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 WTF is a Optra5? And this should be in Other cars. Section Quote
