Guest TurboSedan
I have a 1994 grand prix se, 3100 SFI with what i think is a digital EGR. I think this EGR is giving me problems and was going to try and just replace it. If i can remove it from the engine this will help let me know if its the EGR that is giving me the problem. So my question is what all needs done to remove it: -How do you disable the EGR on the chip if its the electronic? -What holes need pluged? -How do you plug these holes? -Plug vaccum Lines? -Etc......... This would be a good write up! i would check the 60*V6 forum if you can't find the info here (i can't think of any threads here off-hand dealing with that). you can probably make a simple blockoff plate to plug the hole in the intake or possibly drill & tap the hole for an NPT fitting like i did. you would also have to plug the hole in the exhaust manifold (i think the 3100 exhaust manifold uses a threaded fitting intstead of a welded-on bung like i had). Ben aka vegeta aka SappySE107 aka 60*V6 site admin (LOL) can possibly sell you a chip with EGR function shut off BUT that's iffy since your car is a '94 with the dreaded OBD 1.5 system. i don't think you'll need to plug any vacuum lines since you have digital EGR (mine was the older vacuum EGR). if i were you i'd probably just go to a j/y and buy a used replacement EGR and try that instead. you might also find one cheap in the for sale sections of the forums. i highly recommend keeping the EGR.
