dohc v6
I was told that a different year will fit the older style w-bodys. Anybody know anything about this and a part number
slick
Just a replacement starter? Just go to the auto parts store and get one for pretty much any newer GM 2000+ FWD car(this includes the 4 and 6 cylinder cars, they all use the same starter). PCGUY112887
Go to your parts store and ask for a starter for a 2003 V6 Grand Am. Edit - Wait we're talking about for an older 3100/3400 right? (dunno if the DOHC starters are the same or not).

99RegalGS
L67's have came with a more powerful starter than the 60*'s and the L36. IIRC it's ~2.3hp vs like 2hp. Not a big difference, but some.
Q-Ball
I just bought a rebuilt with 1 year warrenty from Canadian Tire. They will give you 65 bucks for your old one too!
5speedz34
When I replaced mine I asked for a starter for a '99 Malibu IIRC. It was the smallest I could find as opposed to any other 60* car.

Dpunchboy
2.3 (Q4) and 2.4 (TC) starters will NOT work. Just to correct a little slip up there

Psych0matt
when i picked mine up, it was actually cheaper than the exact replacement
Q-Ball
My new starter sounds a lot different than my old one. It sounds more higher pitched. But it does starter quicker and I've never had a bad start.
