Dark Ride
Okay, The 90 GP has been Running Like Shit Again (To Nobodys Great Surprise) It Misses Like Hell on idle and it sometimes stumbles on light acceleration, but not hard. The Other night it was missing again, so I lifted the hood and looked down and watched the #6 spark plug wire spark to the head. These Are Brand New Taylor Cable Wires. And Yes They are snapped on tight. When I opened the throttle a little bit the sparking increased, but when I opened it a little more the sparking Stopped and the engine ran fine. WTF?!? What would cause this, I'm going to try putting a new spark plug wire on when I get home, but why would it only spark on idle and not all the way throrugh? White93z34
be sure that its not a cracked ceramic on the spark plug itself.
Mach 5
Most Ignition Systems can't handle high RPMS but maybe the timing light isn't working right. I d check the other plug on that particular coil.
Crazy K
do you mean the spark was at the boot over the spark plug? or through the midle of the wire?
Dark Ride
do you mean the spark was at the boot over the spark plug? or through the midle of the wire? The Spark was at the boot over the plug. Most Ignition Systems can't handle high RPMS but maybe the timing light isn't working right. I d check the other plug on that particular coil. I didn't use a timing light. be sure that its not a cracked ceramic on the spark plug itself. I'll check that tomorrow Thanks, Mitch
SigEpCutlass
What spark plugs are you using? What specific Taylor wires are you using? In my L82 Cutty I'm using Taylor Spiro Pro wires and NGK Iridium plugs. They work great and I have nothing bad to say about either product. Use a timing light on the wires to monitor the flow at different RPMs. If you see something irradic or just cut out, then you found your problem. Are you sure that the coilpacks are ok, especially the one being used by your current suspect? You should definately take a look at the plug itself like Chris suggested. Dark Ride
Ok, Update Over The Weekend I pulled the spark plug wire off to check the plug and it sepreated (yes I pulled it out right) So I grabbed a spare spark plug wire and put that on, and the car ran great, for a day. Now it doesn't spark to the head but just misses to beat hell. Tonight I went to start it and it took forever to start. Once it started it was consistently missing, and I checked the wires and they were tight. so I started it again, still missing. So now rather Pissed off at this point I revved it up a couple off times. Once It returned to Idle, it ran normal all the way to brainerd. WTF? BTW I'm, using Spiro Pros And AC Delco
