TGP Tranny

I'm no genius when it comes to auto trannies, so I'm gonna need some help here. Lately, when I go out and drive my TGP, for about the first 5-10 minutes of driving while the engine and tranny are cold, it sounds like the tranny is whining and it is fairly loud. Coming from a stop and accelerating when engine/tranny is warm, the tranny will whine, but it is very quiet whining. What could be causing this? The tranny in my TGP only has about 12,000 miles on it. Thanks

I just bought my TGP on July 31st, started driving it a little bit in September. I have only put on about 1,000 miles since I bought it, but it has always whined quietly since I bought it at low speeds (40 mph or lower). Lately I have been noticing it, because of the colder weather (40-50 degrees F here right now) as it gets colder, the more noticeable (louder) the whining gets. It is only loud when I first start drivng it for the first 10 minutes (cold engine). The rest of the time it only whines quietly.

I dont have any more, but I dont think there's much you can do. Fluid is good, it shifts fine (I'm assuming), thus no symptoms of anything except the whine so it's really hard to diagnose.

Yeah it shifts fine (tranny only has about 12,000 miles on it). ONE THING I FORGOT TO MENTION: when the tranny is cold during the first 5-10 mins of driving, when I get it up to speed where it should shift into OD, it is REALLY slow to shift into overdrive. Not the shift itself, but I can just be steady going at about 55mph with 1/4 throttle and when the trans. is cold, it takes about 10 seconds of steady speed before it decides to shift; or if I take my foot off the gas completely, then it will shift. It only does this when it is cold. I dunno what is going on. :willynilly: Could all this be caused by a worn tranny fluid pump?

Okay that is good to know. So does anybody know how hard it is to replace the fluid pump? Where is the pump located? Outside of the tranny or inside? Cost? thanks everyone

Anyone know how hard it would be to replace this pump?

Since Its Inside the Transmission, I'm going to say that your probably going to need to pull the engine and transmission. Then take the transmission apart, find the pump, then replace and put everything back together. I would honestly just ignore the whining, if everything else is running normal, it could be anything. If your really concerned about it, perhaps taking it to a Trusted transmission shop and having them listen to it might be beneficial.

Meh it really only whines noticeably when it's really cold outside. I drove it today and it didn't whine at all, so yeah we both don't like the cold.
