rommel1940
Hello everybody I have a 90 cutlass thats been making noise in the front end,it happens when i stop and go, shift to reverse ect,its a clunking sound,First i notced the dog bones were wasted,I replace those, then i noticed the recall on my engine cradle mounts, those were wasted too ,so i too fixed those, the shop said it was my trans mount making the noise so i replaced that ,but that was fine,So what do you guys think is it my passinger side engine mount? when i was under the car i could'nt even see it,and how hard is it to change? Is there any other point that could be making the loud clunking sound, thanks Tom
Crazy K
passenger side is usually a hydraulic mount. is the engine sitting level within the engine compartment? if it were saggin to the passenger side, it would indiacte a bad engine lower mount... but... it could be several thing. balljoints, cv joints, tierods, or somthing large that is loose. inspect those. Robby1870
Yeah, check the passenger side mount, usually they leak when they go bad, so look for lots of "goo" all over the place. And, if that is the problem, you can buy a solid rubber replacement if you are so linclined. I think you can only get it from NAPA.

Stevo
Well instead of creating a new thread I have to say this could be my problem. My 93' LQ1 bumps when I change directions and slightly on shifts which to me, indicated a mount issue. I replaced the 2 easy mounts out of the four but when replacing the dogbone I DID notice the engine was a little 'off' as if leaning to the passenger side. So 2 mounts down 2 to go. Are hydraulic mounts standard in 88'-93' Cutlass Supremes? I may have to take it somewhere with a lift because I dont have a top mount to carry the wieght off the bottom mounts. I just did an oil change last month too, the front mount requires that I pull the oil filter off =\.
19Cutlass94
Hydraulic mounts were standard on all W's. The only mount that was solid rubber was the tranny mount. ( unless you wanna count the soft rubber bushings on the dogbones as solid rubber )
rockfangd
read my post about my motor mount and tranny mountand it will help quite alot. and also i just bought the both lower mounts at napa and i payed 75 dollars including tax
5speedz34
I would think that if all the other mounts are bad so is the hydraulic mount. Hydraulic mounts were standard on all W's. The only mount that was solid rubber was the tranny mount. ( unless you wanna count the soft rubber bushings on the dogbones as solid rubber ) 3.4's have a mount back by the alt. that is solid rubber.
