replacing single outlet exhaust with dual outlets *PICS 56K=NO*)

i pulled the dual outlet exhaust out of my TSTE before it got hauled off so i could try swapping it out for the single outlet exhaust that was in my Turbo Cutlass. this is what i started with:

i'm still in the middle of installing it so don't laugh  nothing is really lined up yet...

this is where i'm welding the TSTE dual outlet exhaust to my factory Cutlass exhaust:

this is the hanger before the rear subframe. it bolted right up:

as you can see the pipe runs under the rear subframe instead of over it like single outlet exhaust cars have. the exhaust looks really close to the lateral arms in this pic, but that's only because the arms are hanging down pretty far since i don't have struts installed at the moment. i don't think 3" pipe will be a problem.

this is the hanger right behind the passenger side muffler. the hangers don't exactly match but i can make them work together easy enough

this is the hanger mount behind the drivers side muffler:

and this is where the driver's side hanger is supposed to mount - just behind the sway bar mount. i totally forgot to pull this hanger out of my TSTE before it got hauled off  i'm going to have to get another hanger at a j/y and either drill or weld the hanger to the frame in order to mount up the drivers side pipe since my frame has no holes there

i didn't get pics of the hangers that are on the outer ends of the muffler (just behind the bumper) becuase it's too hard to get a pic of them. they bolt right up no problem though. i'm obviously going to have to cut an exhuast outlet on the drivers side bumper.

unfortunately, the BYP skirting i installed is wider than the cutout that the bumper has, so i'm going to have to cut the bumper wider to match the skirting. i'll closely match the cutout on the drivers side obviously.

all in all i'd have to say 3" mandrel bent exhaust should fit a 1st GEN W-body no problem. later on i'm planning on complete 3" mandrel bent exhaust (split into TWO 3" pipes for dual outlet of course) with no cat, no resonator, and two Dynomax Ultraflo mufflers. when i upgrade the turbo i'm going to make my own 3" downpipe using an ATPTurbo.com 3" V-band adapter and an ATPturbo.com Modular V-band pipe as well as a SS flex bellow.

the spoiler is the factory luggage rack thing  the 5-speed badge is from a really old Honda CVCC i found in the junkyard.

i got the drivers side of the bumper cut tonight and did some cutting on the passenger side. went through a ton of Dremel cutofff discs. it looks pretty rough right now to say the least (big deal, anyone would have to get down on there knees to even see that area). i still need to go through it with a file to get it shaped just right but i'll do that tomarrow. hopefully i can find the drivers side hangers i need at the local junkyard. then all i'll have to do is get it welded up.

Looks good.

replace those muffs.

He's eventually upgrading to 3" exhaust.

In the meantime the GP exhaust will look nice on there for sure.

thats what I thought, but from that angle it looks like a really subtle but good looking spoiler. you should take off the middle rack things and leave just the "spoiler" part but paint it body colored

finished it up today  i got lucky and went out to the j/y that my old TSTE was at and snagged all of the exhaust hangers i forgot to get. they gave them to me for free too! so the exhaust is all installed, completely bolt in - no hacking whatsoever (besides the bumper of course).

drivers side bumper cutout:

passenger side bumper cutout:

i know they don't look the best but no one is going to see the cuts anyway.

installed!

now all i have to do is weld up the pipes. they lined up perfectly.

Say!!! I recognize that garage, it really is small with a car in there....

On making it look good instead of leaving it hack job

i'd love to find a sapphire blue dual outlet exhaust bumper from a '91 Cutlass Sedan but i don't think that's gonna happen...soo i had to work with what i got.

I have seen two 90 or 91 cs sedans with duals. one was an international.... (I got a pic of one) is 91 the only year they had duals?
