TGPilot
Ok guys here is a little info. Man if you guys start dragging me in to writting JeffM novels, I am going to put a bullet in my foot! DO NOT USE DYNOJET, SUPERFLOW, or MUSTANG HP NUMBERS AS YOUR HP BASE FIGURE!!!! TAKE AT MINIMUM 30% FROM THAT FIGURE AND THAT IS WHAT YOU ARE PUTTING TO THE WHEELS! Now here is a little formula that you can play with to get an idea of the injector size you need with our V6 turbo motors to achieve a relative HP number. IT IS NOT AN EXACT NUMBER BECAUSE AS IN PHYSICS IF YOU DO NOT HAVE EVERY VARIABLE TO PUT IN THE FORMULA IT WILL GIVE A FALSE RESULT! HP = IFR x inj x .8 / BSFC Ok...HP = HorsePower IFR = Injector Fuel Rate in lbs/hour inj = the number of injectors BSFC = Brake Specific Fuel Consumption which is equal to 0.4-0.6 0.8 = 80% duty cyle target I always use 0.5 for BSFC because it is easier. This formula does not take all variables into it so it is a BALLPARK number. It is kind of amusing though that my with TSTE put 186HP to the wheels. Ad 15% to that for drivetrain loss and I get 213.9 HP at the crank. Using the formula above if you use 22 for IFR what do you get? Problem is I am at closer to a 60% duty cycle than 80%. Like I said if every variable is not available it will give a wacked out result.
bodyman
What do I have to do to tune it so I can run the turbo? How can you turn the turbo? I could not find anywhere to tune it manually or is it in the computer? I bought the injectors with the intentions of getting a bigger turbo when I bought the car and they told me to get the 30lb ones, they told me it would work on the stock computer for now but I defiantly need to upgrade because it would be pushing too much fuel. I know that the engine is stock it had a set of head gaskets in it before I bought it and I know the transmission is not the toughest in these cars specially when your upgrading but I’m not going to race the car I just got it for a weekend driver and something to add to my collection of w-body’s. So if anyone could give me some ideas and point me in the right direction.
TGPilot
The stock settings in the chip will NOT like the 30lbs injectors. The Pulse Width is set for 22lbs of flow. Now you are adding a larger flow rate to what the stock chip thinks it should be pushing. Even going to a 24lbs injector will cause driveabiliy issues. You will need to get with Dave (Invasion1 at tgpforums.com) or myself to get you dialed in. You will need: Datalogging software (free at http://tunerpro.markmansur.com/) ALDL cable connections to connect between the laptop and the car (ALDL port) Found here... http://www.moates.net/product_info.php?cPath=49&products_id=49 http://www.moates.net/product_info.php?cPath=49&products_id=127 A Laptop to see what is happening and capture log recordings to send to me or Dave Then you will need a Chip converted to an EEPROM in order to "ReBurn" the new chip settings. You can also buy the Burn1 package so all you have to do is send me a log, I send you the corrections, then you burn your own chip. http://www.moates.net/product_info.php?cPath=51&products_id=48 If you want to get advanced and you think you can handle it you can purchase an all in one package from Moates that allows everything in one package as well as an Emulator...but that is for the ADVANCED USER! http://www.moates.net/product_info.php?cPath=51&products_id=54 You will need to have a WB 02 sensor installed and best way to run it is to have it integrate into the TunerPro RT software so you can get accurate numbers in the log file you send for review. Last but not least. In order for me to spend the time to custom tune a chip for you over email will be about $550. Dave may be less expensive you will want to talk to him. ANY VEHICLE OUT THERE IS NOT PLUG AND PLAY WITH ADD-ONS! There are always perameters that need to be corrected and settings changed to accept the changes. I deal with this everyday with my customers. Some people think they are going to get away with spending a few dollars to get big horsepower...NOT REALITY!
