RobertISaar
95 Monte LS leaking on the drivers side, pretty bad by now. i've been working on it for a while, thought the pan gasket was leaking but i guess not because the only bolts that got wet after i dryed off and tightened the entire pan were the 3 or 4 that were on the driver's side. just fixed a different leak that was caused by both cooling lines (rusted in half and i had to bend new ones myself). i really don't want to take this to someone else so if at all possible i need to be able to do this myself. THe_DeTAiL3R
Did you change the pan gasket? If it's cracked you can tighten the bolts all you want it's still gonna leak. It's not a hard job, just a little messy if you've never done it before. I have 2 extra rubber gaskets (came with the filter) that I have no use for, I can send them to you for the price of shipping, but you probably don't wanna wait that long. RobertISaar
i think but hope not that the leak may be coming from above the pan. might as well get a new filter and gasket, but if its not that what MIGHT it be?
Regal_GS_1989
Most likely its the axle seal thats leaking. Not to awful a job, and not that expensive either.
RJansen658
If it has the original steel/rubber gasket, and it is not visibly damaged reuse it. If it damaged buy a new one from GM, not a cheap cork gasket. I got one for a 4T60-E for $37 last time I needed one. If its the axle seal, it will be wet all arond where the axle goes into the trans, but on the drivers side like that, the side pan may be leaking making it look like the axle seal. FordBoy
The one for the axle isnt hard though either. I broke my driver side axle at the teeth in the tranny. Its shot a peice of the teeth though the seal. I didnt notice that though. So it started to piss tranny fluid after it was running and movable again. Then the shaft broke again!?!?! AHHHHH! changed that saw seal was bad end of story. BTW the 2nd shaft was free!! I LOVE warentys.
