AxlCrucifix Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 Hey guys, im looking for help with the console/compass computer that is an option in the 90/91 Grand Prix's. I need to know how to calibrate it, but I have no owners manual to tell me how to do so. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Quote
Dark Ride Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 To set the compass, you press "Set" then drive the car in 3 complete circles or until CALIB goes away. Then, point the car at true north and press "North". Quote From Digital Outsider Quote
fastbird232 Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 Hmm... I never had to point it at north before... Quote
AxlCrucifix Posted October 10, 2006 Author Report Posted October 10, 2006 I don't think it has a "set" button though it has buttons such as fuel economy and stuff like that Quote
digitaloutsider Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 They're small little buttons. I haven't seen a GP DIC in years so, I can't really remember what button it is to push. It might be Calibrate on the later VFD ones. Quote
AxlCrucifix Posted October 11, 2006 Author Report Posted October 11, 2006 does it matter whether you turn left or right? and how am i to know what is due north? just guess? Quote
GOT2B GM Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 It doesn't matter what direction you turn. You don't HAVE to calibrate due north, it'll be close without doing it. Quote
Bossman429 Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 I always turn left when I do it. Go slow enough so the car doesn't lean much, I keep it at a creaping pace. Here's a real shitty pic of my DIC: The CAL and NORTH buttons are in the lower left corner. Quote
AxlCrucifix Posted October 11, 2006 Author Report Posted October 11, 2006 my compass is WAY bigger then that in the same space, but its got teh compass and other stuff included on it such as buttons for caluclating fuel economy and a text readout of things that need to be done and how much longer until they need to be done, like it will tell you how many more km until you need to roate your tired, or how many km left until you need new oil, and pretty much for everything that needs regular maitenance Quote
AxlCrucifix Posted October 11, 2006 Author Report Posted October 11, 2006 picture not to scale hahaha i know but mine is actually bigger like, bigger buttons, bigger screen and stuff Quote

The screen size is actually the same. The procedure should be outlined in your owner's manual. Quote
