RobertISaar
my Monte has had a really bad crimp in the exhaust for about 5 years... its a little before the last turn to the muffler and it reduces the size of the pipe to about 3/4". i don't know how it happened but i'm sure its played a couple of problems for me it might throw off the F/A ratio because of a lot more backpressure and maybe keeping the heavier particles(unburnt gas) farther up in the exhaust making the engine run leaner and then richen it because of the headpipe is a hell of a lot higher temperature than it should be? screw up the fuel economy( my engine turns about 1900 RPM at 55MPH but from 45-49MPH the engine stays in between 1500-maybe 1600RPM and once it hits 50 its climbs a lot quicker(maybe a different problem)
Z34-5speed
What is the question??? Just take it to a muffler shop and have them weld in a new segment, shouldn't be that much. Kyle
RobertISaar
i just want to know if thats what could have caused a bunch of my problems... if it is and i can get my MIG welder back i can just get a new straight tube and weld it myself... or i could get rid of that stupid Y pipe and make a true dual exhaust in shotgun pattern with a balance pipe. Robby1870
I dont think that little bend is causing all the problems you mentioned. But it's something that since you have a welder you might as well fix.
