joey b Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 I recently installed a new rack and by a stupid mistake am not sure exactly which hole in the rack which PS line hooked up to. Now the power steering is not what it used to be. Is this due to having the hoses hooked to the wrong holes? Would it even function in this situation. Granted, there is power steering, it is not as easy to turn the wheels, especially at idle. Quote
jdcutty Posted October 8, 2006 Report Posted October 8, 2006 I would think that with it being a brand new rack, it wouldn't turn as easy as an old wore out one. I say just give it some time to break in. Quote
RJansen658 Posted October 8, 2006 Report Posted October 8, 2006 Yes the lines have different size fittings on them so it is not possible to hook them up backwards. I agree with jdcutty that you simply need to drive it some more to break it in. Make sure you check the fluid a few times over the next few days as I am sure it is airated which will also cause weak response from the P/S. Quote
mfewtrail Posted October 9, 2006 Report Posted October 9, 2006 Joey, did you turn the wheel lock-to-lock several times to help bleed the air out of the system? Also, did the rack have a pressure sensor on it? If it does, did you plug it in? Quote

RJansen658 Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 ..... ........ ............ Seriously.... they should have been a different size.... I mean they are both the same hex, but different flares or thread sizes. Some are different thread sizes and different flares. Quote
jdcutty Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 I still say wait awhile and see what happens. Quote
DiscoStudd Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 Joey, did you turn the wheel lock-to-lock several times to help bleed the air out of the system? Did you do this with both front wheels off the ground? (It makes it a bit easier, and you can turn the wheels back & forth a few dozen times rather quickly.) Quote
joey b Posted October 11, 2006 Author Report Posted October 11, 2006 it turns easily enough and I've put about 100 miles on it since. Quote
