4T60 Won't Downshift Properly - TV Cable?

Scenario:

Driving on the highway about 75 or 80 km/h. Transmission in overdrive. Then open throttle full-wide. The transmission SHOULD (used to), shift down into third, and then if I continue to open the the throttle, go all the way down into second. Second tops out at about 120 km/h, but even if the throttle if full open, it'll only kick down as far as third.

TV Cable needs adjustment?

It might, at least it's an easy place to start. It's a little tough to get to the "reset" button but follow the cable to a housing behind the engine, and look for an off-white button. You have to push this HARD (I think I used a 3/8 extension to reach it and push down on) then push the black cable sheathing inwards. You'll feel it go in. Then release the button, and open the throttle to maximum with your hand (engine off!) you'll hear it clicking (locking into place).

It seems to shift normally. I recently put in some FFP torque struts so if anything it seems to shift more crisply than it did before.

I can downshift manually, of course, and it seems to behave.

DON'T MANUALLY SHIFT AN AUTO TRANNY!!!!!!!!!!!! :willynilly:

Agreed. What's that all about?

it's pretty much a necessity living in a mountainous area like BC. Otherwise, you'd destroy a set of brakes every year.

Can't say as that I've ever heard of anyone having a transmission problem from manually down-shifting anyways.
