Brian P
Can't rule out a PCM but there's other things to check: Fuel pressure with key on/engine off, see if fuel pressure holds after pump stops fuel pressure with engine running if low leaking injector
Pontiac6KSTEAWD
I have seen a bad PCM. My TGP had one. But he has a OBDII car. So those would have a diferent PCM. All he needs to do is take a PCM out of any 96-97 W car, and swap the EEPROMs doesnt he?

chadz34
Well, I just ran outside and pressed the valve on the fuel bar underneath the DOHC plate and it shot fuel out of the hood right out of the engine compartment, so fuel pressure is not an issue! I will check again when it's running and let everyone know.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about..... Older PCM's you can swap the EEPROM chip for the correct one needed for your engine. But as I mentioned before you can get the whole 3100 or other '96+ PCM flashed by the dealer (at what cost) to what you need. Well, I just ran outside and pressed the valve on the fuel bar underneath the DOHC plate and it shot fuel out of the hood right out of the engine compartment, so fuel pressure is not an issue! You won't know enough to tell 15psi from 45psi (you should be around 40, and with key on engine off should not bleed down for at least a few minutes)
