2000 GP 3800 Series II into my 91 International w/HM-284

Hey, some of you might have read some of my posts, I havn't been on in awhile. I have a 1 of 109 Cutlass internationals with a 3.4DOHC and the HM-284 5-speed, but the motor is knocking and needs to be rebuilt. My friend has a 2000 Grand Prix GT that he wrecked, but the motor is in good shape with lower miles. He has offered to sell me the motor and computer out of the car to put into my cutlass. I think this would be a much cheaper fix to the car if it would work, and I could actually drive the car instead of letting it sit. I'm wondering if anyone has tried this, they are both w-body's, but as I understand it the computer out of the GP would have to be re-programmed to run with the manual transmission, I read that I would need to get a custom-made flywheel. What else would I need as far as mounting the 3800 into the cradle of the cutlass(motor mounts etc.) If I can get this to work it would be alot cheaper to get the thing going, otherwise it will sit all winter in the snowbank. I also realise this kind of ruins the rarity of the car, but I paid for it and need to be able to drive it. It'd be kind of stupid to let it sit, I just want to drive my 5-speed cutlass. Any info would be greatly appreciated, I no longer have internet so I'll check back periodically.

as i see it, the 5spd is the rare part, and you're keeping that in there. if you plan on keeping the car, why not mod it up. there is another thread going right now on the same topic

I thought that other post was the same too, I read it, and it sounds like he's trying to swap a manual into an L67 car, maybe not I wasn't sure so I started this one. I am specifically looking to put a non- supercharged 3800 series II into my 91 international and beside getting it to work with the manual transmission I also need to find out what I need to drop the 3800 into the car since it now has a 3.4. I know I'll need to get a flywheel, and also reprogram the 3800 computer, but thats about it. As far as mounts would I be able to use mounts out of a 3800 regal? I'm not going to spend alot of money on this, just put in the motor my friend is offering me for a cheap price, and get the cutlass going. I think the stock 3800 will have plenty of go hooked up to the 284 anyways. I might mod it later if i get the money, but just want to do a basic swap. I'm looking at only spending a few hundred on the swap as I'll also be swapping the entire brake system off of my 94 CS onto the 91. With the 2 combined and a few other things the 91 needs I think I'll be already spending more than I wanted to.
