Got front STB, question

OK so I got the GM front STB for 97+ prix's... I was going by the instructions on how to install it but it seems that if I drill straight through the black plate thing and the strut tower, than i'm going to hit this large round rubber bushing thing that is up in the wheel well.

Am I missing something, or am I just going to have to sorta rig it up to only go through the black plate and not all the way through the tower?

Thanks.

Easiest:

MAKE SURE YOU SPECIFY YEAR

Hackjob:

Drill the strut tower caps, not the actual body sheet metal. feed the bolts through the bottom of the cap and bolt it down. it will be ugly though, will have to bend to fit unless you washer it.

Right now I've just got mine attached to the strut cover. I didnt even know about the ZZP brackets until this post and Ive had the STB for 4 years. ZZP brackets looks nice, I might have to try them. Can you put the brackets on over the strut cover?

Yes. They bolt on top of the strut cover, on two of the three bolts.

Good, I was just a little worried about the bolts in the strut tower being long enough. I'll definitely look into these.

The bolts in the strut tower are deff lone enough. Ive had my front STB bar on with washers to avoid hitting the alt, then I just said fuck it and filed down the alt so I could take out the washers. But theres deff enough room.

The only thing Ive heard bad about the brackets is that they dont exactly line up correctly. You might have to oblong the holes to get it to fit right...

eh, no biggie. I bent my current strut covers to fit as it is. I should have a couple of spare sets laying around though.

Yea, but those same people probably have never had an OEM Cutlass bar either. Trust me, some cars they drop right on no problem, others need a lot of coaxing and possibly grinding.

My 3.4 STB fit all 3 of my W's differently, from easy to the point where I had to bend it a tad to bolt it down.

here we go...another ZZP bracket discussion...someone should do a search...been discussed many of times...but i'll tell you guys again...i was NOT @ all impressed with them when i bought them for my cutlass...they are REALLY expensive for what you get, you STILL HAVE TO MODIFY your bar to make them work (you have to elongate the slots in the STB), and...to top it off...the most recent problem was that when BrianP installed his, it actually hit the hood...mine was hitting on the hood liner and ruined my nice paintjob, but he could actually see the back of his hood lifting up when he tried to shut it...

yes i know this has been discussed a lot, but i'm still giving the brackets a big :thumb:.i had to coax the bar on with a mallet a couple times, but now it slips right on. no drilling or anything for me
