Duel fuel pumps.

Ok I thought of this yesterday. I'd like a high performance fuel pump for racing/strip but not the low mpg. So can you run two fuel pumps with switchs so I could run the stock one for the street and the racing one when I need it? Has this been done or a better question is can it be done?

Also, if tuned right, you'll still get decent "non-racing" mpg. You also have to realize that with the more hp you want/have you usually are going to suffer a loss in economy. Just the way it is.

Also, what kind of mods do you have that would require a second fuel pump?

No. This is a VERY BAD idea! It's not going to be your fuel pump that is causing shitty mileage. It'll be your tune, the size of injectors and how you drive. C'mon, if you have the money to build a car, then you should not be worried about gas mileage. You gotta pay to play.

how would a high performance fuel pump cause bad gas mileage anyway? the fuel pressure regulator is going to keep the pressure where it's supposed to be (provided your return line is adequate).

my thoughts exactly. I can't remember what or where on the pump that people like to buy, but there is a higher flowing pump that some member chose to replace their factory one with, which would be required if or when they did a swap to an L67 or something.....
