I didn't buff them, my dad came up with the idea of using a metal cleaner/polisher, not sure exactly what it is, but it worked pretty good!

My reverse lights and turn signals on the taillights were blurry as hell too, and now there pretty clean!

The headlights are still a bit faded, but a good buffing will finish it off.

Well using a metal polish is basically like buffing with a polish anyways.

I have a bunch of old silver junk, Jess was using silver polish on the coasters. I had this old silver plate that was just terrible (I thought it was good for trash) it showed signs of promise with the silver polish, but then I tried my 3M Swirl Mark Remover (aka a polish) and wow that stuff worked way faster at getting the bad stuff off... lol

i personally have had great results with a rotary buffer and rubbing compound, just be careful of the speed on plastic lenses, never stay in one spot too long.
