Finally got new motor mount

I went and bought the solid engnine side mount from Napa yesterday..had to order it, it will be in today.

Now I need to know how to change it out...my current oil filled mount exploded....anyway, where exactly is this mount under the car?? I sorta looked yesterday but all I saw was subframe, not really knowing where to look. Will I have to remove the passenger side fender liner thingy to get at the mount?? I can borrow my friend's engnine support brace to support the engine at the top (bar goes to each fender with a hook in the middle connects to motor)

Anyone have a write up and/or pictures of the mount and it's location?? Anything would be very helpful.. Thanks!

PS, I hope my tranny mount isn't broken, because I didn't buy one of those lol...guess we'll find out today/tomorrow

Well, Technically it is in the right section as maintenece does fall under "car care". I have never done this mount, I always let my freind do the greasy jobs on my car as a way of repayment for money I have loaned him.. So I guess I would be interested to know.

Its located under the crank pulley..

There is a big U-shaped brace that attaches to the motor under that is the mount. It's "sandwiched between that and the cradle.

You can get the top nuts off the studs from the top of the motor. Than lift the motor up and get the bolts that are under the car on the cradle, than take it out and put the other one on.

Body work, paint care, interior/exterior cleaning, detailing tips and tricks.

That's no prob though.

You'll need a way to lift the engine up, or drop the side of the frame down a little. Just supporting the engine would work if you drop the side of the frame, but it's not always willing to cooperate. Just like was said, that motor mount bracket is U-shaped with I believe 6 bolts. Not the easiest task on that engine, in fact I'd have someone help you with it as the bracket/mount combo can be a bitch in 2 ways:

- Just getting it out

-lining the new mount up so it mounts to the engine, plus sits correctly in the subframe

Best of luck, I'll look for pictures on my PC when I get home.

I need to do the mounts on my sisters car soon, my plan is to take the engine and lift up a little bit(within its range of motion). Attach a engine support bracket thing to hold it up and then go to town.
