97loudcut Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Since my 17" Konigs are not really in perfect shape I am going to keep them on for the winter and buy new rims in the spring. The tire size is 255/45/R17 I need an all season tire and I would like something with directional tread (but will look at other tires) Any recomendations? I get a discount through work so I am looking for popular brands. LMK what you come up with. Quote
5speedz34 Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Honestly, why not go back to your regular 5-spokes? You won't spend any money on tires since you have those Triple Treads (awesome tire BTW.) You don't risk fucking your wheels up. The reason I say this is because if you put that size into Tirerack 95% of the tires are summer tires. Quote
97loudcut Posted September 17, 2006 Author Report Posted September 17, 2006 Well my konigs are a little "hit" they have some scratches on them. I really cannot stand the way the car looks with the stock wheels on it and I am sure I could sell them for a decent price on either ebay or here. Hmm...myabe I will just go back to the stock wheel Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 If you want to use them for winter wheels, I'd definitely recommend a narrower tire. 255's will suck donkeys in the winter. 225/50R17, 225/55R17, 235/50R17. You should be able to find more all-season in those sizes. 235/50's are probably closer in diameter to what you've got than the other sizes, but 225/55's are a cheaper size because it's the factory size for many cars and is about the same diameter as stock 225/60R16's. White93z34 Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 hell if you won't want those tripple treads i'd gladly take them, my BFG advantage plus are a very so-so tire. i'd sure you'd be just fine in the winter with your stock tires and those good tires, sure the car might not look as good, but i'd rather get where i'm goin then end up in a wreck, i don't like to slap my steelies on in the winter either, but i go everywhere in the snow with them so who am i to comlain. i definately don't think that the 225s will hurt you, i've drove several winters with that size and got along just fine.
