Psych0matt Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 I don't think I'll go for the mirror polished look, but definitely wanted to clean it up. that's about all i could do til the cordless drill started dying. I'll probably work on the rest this week sometime hopefully Quote
94CutlassSLCoupe Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 please tell me when you were doing it you had the oil cap on!!! I tried doing that with my valve covers for my 3100 and got sick of trying to make it look real good so i just busted out the aluminum engine paint Quote
Psych0matt Posted September 16, 2006 Author Report Posted September 16, 2006 I did it with the valve cover off, I just took the picture after I put it back on, and I hadnt put the cap on yet. I'm not that dumb! (usually ) I'm half tempted just to do the top the same as that bottom, and leave the middle and sides crappy still Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 I think it looks good so far. When I did my intakes and valve covers, I did it with em off when I was doing the LIM gasket. I think they look good too, although Ive never posted pictures. I think you really need a cover on the exhaust manifold though, it would looo much better! IMHO Quote
fastbird232 Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 I got about that far before I kinda got off track. Never did finish it... Quote
5speedz34 Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 I have like 3-4 sets of Valve covers and intakes in the basement...someday..someday. Quote
Psych0matt Posted September 18, 2006 Author Report Posted September 18, 2006 yeah, I'm hoping my dad didnt toss my spares. I suppose If i would have actually put them away instead of randomly in the garage! i was going to tear the old block down and see the damage, but he said he got rid of that (which is why im wondering about my other stuff) Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 My co-worker that has the RPE, painted his blue to match the car. it doesnt look too awful bad, but Ill have to get a picture of it next time. Quote
GOT2B GM Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 I need to polish my spare one come to think of it.... Quote
J Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 go oneline and look up 200 mph, it is a polish that i use. I was screwing around in the garage and started jessicas tC cam cover and it is turning out great with just the polish, no sanding at all, but hers is not painted. Get a mini buffing wheel for your drill and that polish and your set! Quote
97loudcut Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 yeh I need some polish sausage Quote
Psych0matt Posted September 19, 2006 Author Report Posted September 19, 2006 Im trying to do the rest of it, but my roommaets drill has like 10 minutes of battery life. I need my drill, has two batteries Quote

Psych0matt Posted September 20, 2006 Author Report Posted September 20, 2006 I did the top tonight. I think I'll just leave it like this, at least for now. im contemplating painting everything else a silver or gunmetal Quote
GOT2B GM Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 Looks good so far but I would polish everything.....if you don't like it you can always paint sections afterwards.. Quote
Psych0matt Posted September 20, 2006 Author Report Posted September 20, 2006 yeah, that'll probably happen, but seeing as how for now I have to drive it almost every day, i have to do it in sections as time allows Quote
