runt Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 I'm not sure what I should do. I am currently running my Stock Box with a K&N Drop In. I want to do an intake and quite honestly I can't see the point in spending over $200 for a Wizair. Unless someone can show me proof that they are THAT much better, I'm really thinking about just using some 3" PVC with some bends (there was a write up posted a while back by 99RegalGS) and putting it down in my fender well. ONly problem is water getting in there, but I think I might try to make something to stop it from doing that...anyway... What do you guys think? Quote
terryk2003 Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 i like the Wizaird, not only for how it works, but it looks really nice...BUT, its way to expensive and deffinatly cheaply built and not worth the money!...so i wouldnt recommend it!...i'd prolly go with a fenderwell setup...i thought i had a link saved to that INTERCOOLED fenderwell intake someone made...guess not...i think sean may have the link though... Euro Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 i say go custom homemade deal unless how much is a Thrasher? that works pretty well too, but im not sure how much it is Quote
terryk2003 Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 i say go custom homemade deal unless how much is a Thrasher? that works pretty well too, but im not sure how much it is pretty sure the Thrasher, Wiziard, SLP, K&N are all around the same price... Quote
runt Posted September 13, 2006 Author Report Posted September 13, 2006 See, I personally can't deal with paying that much. While I'm sure the Wizaired LOOKS cool and sounds great....the cost...bah...lol. Although with the way that the weather has been around here, it might have to wait until like spring to happen.... 94CutlassSLCoupe Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 digitaloutsider's regal has some sort of homemade intake system on it...i can;t remember exactly how it was though Quote
White93z34 Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 i could NEVER justify $200 for a intake setup when you can build one for less then half that. PVC FTW Quote

SigEpCutlass Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 IIRC, Wizair was dyno proven to have the most power gain on a 90* V6. Other than the high cost associated with it, I see nothing wrong with it from what I've read of other people's experiences with it. Quote
terryk2003 Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 you could just gut your stock airbox, and put a K & N drop-in...i honestly don't think you're gonna see much difference in power with a CAI on your car...i mean, the most it really did for me was i could hear the supercharger more...i'm sure its gonna help when i do the pulley swap and all that good stuff...IMO, more power can be had from a retuned PCM...of course, you gotta run premium fuel if you do that though... Quote
White93z34 Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 i really don't see what makes the wizair so special anyhow? a hose with what a heat shild and a expensive box? i mean you could get just as good if not better resuts by building your own setup that can actually go down in the fender and have the filter completely out of the engine bay. and i thought you were supposed to run premium in those cars from the get go? 94CutlassSLCoupe Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Runt's car is an L36, that's which car he was talking about...l36's are fine on 87 but L67's need at least 91 octane Quote
runt Posted September 16, 2006 Author Report Posted September 16, 2006 Yeah. I'm a loser. I dont' get no supercharger! Soooo...I think I'm gonna say fuck it and just build one over the winter. Order stuff slowly as not to break the bank... Quote
sl3196 Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Build one. And this is coming from a wizair owner. I sure like my intake but damn it was alot of money. Quote
99RegalGS Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Homemade FTW!!! I don't have the link that I think I posted, but here's a similar one. http://www.regalgs.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17914 And here's a link to the intercooled intake. http://www.clubgp.com/newforum/tm.asp?m=2393530 I still need to make one for myself out of PVC someday.... Guest TurboSedan Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 i'm kind of wondering why people go with 4" on some FWI. does it really need to be any bigger than 3"? what is the size of the TB anyway? also, i was thinking of making mine using aluminum mandel bent pipe. would PVC be better? runt Posted September 18, 2006 Author Report Posted September 18, 2006 Hey...nothing wrong with only having a 3" pipe... Quote

I just read both of those pots (almost every page) and GREAT finds!! If I remember I'll post that link you did before, it's in my favorites @ work. Quote
runt Posted September 18, 2006 Author Report Posted September 18, 2006 http://www.geocities.com/raflyer/car.html There is the link that Sean posted before.... Quote
99RegalGS Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Thanks for posting that other link. I added it to my bookmarks now. lol Josh, PVC is a very good insolator, so it woult be better than steel tubing. Quote
BIGBULS Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 An insulated CAI is about as intelligent as a bullet-proof benie in a minefield............. Seriously, even at idle, the air in an intake is emptied SO quickely that it doesn't matter if you make your intake out of heated thin-wall copper................there just isn't time to heat up the incoming air. Plus I sem to recall that PVC gives off either toxic or corrosive fumes when heatd up too much..............hmmmmmmmmm Quote
Canada Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 Just buy something decent and not ghetto.....who cares if it costs more....at least it will work right and not look like the drains in my basement for my bathroom. Quote

digitaloutsider Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 I got the f-duct for free, the PVC was laying around my house, and the filter was $20 at AutoZone. I am the king of cheap mods. I'll eventually be going down into the fenderwell, but I'm not really having any problems with intake air temperatures as of right now. I will never pay more than $50 for an intake. Quote
