Dr.Fiero Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 Or in other words.... the sound a timing belt makes, as I coast to the side of the road.... Well - looks like the ol' S-dime 4*4 is getting recalled into action! Quote
Psych0matt Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 good luck with the t-belt job! Not really that bad provided you have the timing marks and do it that way. Quote
Dr.Fiero Posted September 10, 2006 Author Report Posted September 10, 2006 Buddy at work has a '91 GP with the same 3.4. He wanted me to do his belt, so I told him to pick up the OTC tool set to do it, and I'd do his (He pays for the pizza, and I keep the set). Looks like I'll have to have him expedite that purchase! I've got enough cars/trucks/bikes to pick from it's not the end of the world. And who knows, maybe the cam timing was whacked, and that was causing my (or helping to cause my) HORRIBLE mileage. Last round of fuelings I was getting: 15.87 15.91 15.13 16.84 14.27 (that's in US MPG, combined city/highway) Quote
jdcutty Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 holy crap that is some horrible gas mileage. I think any randomly picked SUV would prolly do better than that. Good luck with the timing job though. Quote
Dr.Fiero Posted September 10, 2006 Author Report Posted September 10, 2006 holy crap that is some horrible gas mileage. Yeah, tell me about it! That last 14.xx was me filling up this morning... about 2 driving hours before it snapped. Think it was trying to tell me something???? Quote
LumiDriver Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 figuring out my highway milage last night, since I got back from Holland MI, About 34 miles to the gallon, constant 80Mph...sweeeeetttt. And that was a jump from the 18 I was getting before Ic hanged the plugs, imagine a new Air filter, oil change, fresh tires, and fuel filter would do! My mom has to do the timing belt in her eclipse soon.. Quote
Psych0matt Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 ive been consistantly getting around 20 or so, but i think my plugs are about done, even though theyre not very old. driving on bad timing as well as seafoaming has probably killed them Quote
