GrandAmSE
Just bought it. What kind of gain can I get. I have the 3.4DOHC. They say 30hp but I'm think more like 8hp-10hp. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=017&item=270024467028&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=

Cam'ron
do yourself a favor and turn it the other way and track down some extra pipe and put the filter in the fender... HAI are crap, all you suck in is the heat from the engine bay. killing any gains they tell you you might get from it... they sure sound cool though! just rev it up and you might be able to make someone think you just added 30 HP for 30 bucks! Mach 5
Good one! I have one of these intakes on my car as well. The only way your going to get anything out of that filter is by installing a sheild on it and have a cold air hose. OR You can go with the fender idea
97loudcut
wll cameron it will have gains for the first 2 minutes of running beofre the engine gets hott so if you wanna race someone just do it after the car has been sitting for a couple hours

Singh
LOL 30 HP !!!!! 8-10 HP lmaoooo sweet ! i hate these people who make those intakes ! they should be sued seriously ! espeically from the HP claims isnt that illegal??!? god dammit ! that sucks man i feel bad for ya ! but at least it LOOKS cool, the sad part is you probally are going to get HP LOSS due to the fact that the stock unit draws air form a 'colder' location than that cone will ever ! Get a new pipe on that cone and try to get it down the street, unless u got bad weather and its a daily driver, or get it in the fender, i want to get mine in the fender when i decide to get one, but mayubee not since 3800 swap is becoming reality soon
GrandAmSE
Sorry but I don't ever remember saying it was a WAI. I'm still trying to figure a CAI up for that car. My Grand Am has a hole in the fender already but how would I do it to this car.

ToroToro
My head is going to pop off. Check out z34_nut's car. He has a very nice fenderwell intake. As do a few other people here. You will need to relocate the battery. Searching should help you find what you need. A lot of it is just custom fabbing. There arent any set instructions on how to do it. You've at least got a good start with this ebay one.
Mach 5
I would buy a coupler for the pipe then pick up a mock up kit from http://www.spectreperformance.com . Then you can pick up any tubing you will need to find that sweet cold air spot on your car. Maybe stop at autozone to get an idea of what you might need. They carry a full line of spectre performance parts. Good luck
GrandAmSE
I saw some metal flexable tubing at the hardware store. Its hard to bend so it'll keep its shape and its polished metal so it looks cool. Thats one thought. I'm thinking of removing the washer fluid bottle. I hate it covering the battery. ToroToro
It's only two clips. I'd keep my windshield washer... Are you talking about some sort of HVAC duct? I would try going to Autozone, or a similar rice supplier, and get another intake tube for a Honda or something, and cut it to fit. Not like it would take anything more than a hacksaw and an hour or so...
GrandAmSE
I'll go to the hardware store and take a pic or two and you tell me what you think. Its not HVAC tube or drier duct thats for sure but other then that I got no clue what it is. Looks good.
BIGBULS
In all fairness, that intake WILL likely pick up 4-6 hp when his speed is high enough to get some decent airflow through the engine bay................say 40ish mph. My former roomate had a WAI on his Beretta for a while, and past ~35-40mph, his IAT temps would drop to within 10 degree's of ambient...........same as his stock airbox.............at low speeds/idle they were as much as 70 degrees hotter though. HIS intake made 4.6 WHEEL hp on the dyno, but that's with a big turbo-fan pointed at the front of his car. But, especially for all you launch challenged auto trannied cars out there, the hot air it sucks in coming from a standstill is going to kick the crap out of your 60ft times (especially if it's ben sitting still for any length of time). A 5 speed can counter this a little by launching higher, but 1st gear is still going to suck...... Either way, a true CAI is far superior. For $28 though...............
