5speedz34
Well, I need to get to doing something with the Lumina. Right now it's sitting. Well, alot of the problem is it runs like piss with the headers and I don't have alot of money to play with yet. They rub, have pin hole leaks, and could stand to be recoated. Frankly, I would like to keep them, but right now I want to pull them off and put some stock manifolds back on them. I would need to take them to a performance shop that could help me with them. Option 1: Pull them off, go back to manifolds. Down the road mock up a 3.4 and design some damn good headers. Option 2: Keep them, find somewhere to fabricate them back down to resonable proportions have them jet-coated, etc. I'm just not sure, right now I'm leaning to option 1. Thanks, guys. Psych0matt
what exactly is the difference between manifolds and headers? (sorry, dont mean to hijack)
White93z34
well i know your car has been sitting for a good while now, personally i'd rahter drive it and take the time to design some damn good headers.
Cam'ron
cleaner flow in headers
Psych0matt
cleaner flow in headers but whats the difference? i understand theyre more efficient or whatever, but why do they have different names if theyre just slightly different versions of the same thing? 5speedz34
cleaner flow in headers but whats the difference? i understand theyre more efficient or whatever, but why do they have different names if theyre just slightly different versions of the same thing? Kinda different versions of the same thing. They allow for the exhaust gasses to escape more quickly since there is more velocity present. Allowing for better breathing. *Please don't Hijack*
slick
Tony, you know my view. Take them off, tune the engine so you can drive it, and rework those headers, then put them back on, and have it re-tuned.

OHH and Chad's post about his high idle for the 10000x gets bumped above mine?! WTF?! BUMP BITCHES
White93z34
wow people here forget stuff quick, but for those that don't know tony bought his car from another member a litle over a year ago, that member had constructed headers, which are good for... race only apps, hence they make the car run rich as hell, foul sprak plugs and the O2 sensor can't get a good reading. 5speedz34
care to fill us in?! Rather than jumping in and spending money on a set of headers. I'd rather go back to Manifolds, and design a better set, with MY knowledge.
Euro
sounds like a good idea. thats what i would've done
SigEpCutlass
Get stock manifolds from Parts Galore and put the headers on standby for when you have a chance to fix them. Get the car running first. You can always re-install the headers later when they're ready.
94CutlassSLCoupe
You gotta go back to the manifolds...I think i've put 35k miles on my olds since you bought the car

Bring them outhere one weekend and we can port them as much as we can just for shits and giggles, then u can put them back on your car at home. He told me he has 2 sets of 5 speed manifolds, but he wants to delete the AIR system, so he wants a set of Auto manifolds.
Supreme Cutlass
headers can either make or break an engine, and right now it sounds like they're breaking it

joey b
5-speed manifolds? Isn't the engine a 97. 5-speed wasn't offered in 97. They won't match up. And to delete AIR- nothing a bolt can't fix.

And to delete AIR- nothing a bolt can't fix. Huh?! The engine in my car is the orginal '92 just rebuilt. The 5speeds had a Air style manifold also (like the 96-97's.) My air system is removed and it would just be easier to get auto manifolds so I won't have to mess with bolts.
