Dr.Fiero Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 (and no - burritos were not had for dinner!) But seriously folks.... Bulk of the time, there's nothing. But on a sweeping r/h turn (not left) I'm hearing a tapping/clunking noise coming from the right rear area. It's rate of clunk is in direct correlation to speed. As soon as I pull straight again, it's gone. Don't have to be going very fast to hear it (20mph + I'm guessing). Since I haven't pulled the back end apart before on this.... what can I expect? Is it a set of tapered rollers? I'm thinking I've got a bad bearing if so.... Ideas? Warnings? Suggestions? Thanks. Quote
marcusa Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 Check the suspension, that would be my first guess. Quote
jdcutty Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 I would think the wheel bearing is just starting to give up on ya Quote
SigEpCutlass Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 You might also want to take a look and see if your Monoleaf pads are worn out. Quote
5speedz34 Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 I would think the wheel bearing is just starting to give up on ya Yeah that's what I would say, but wheel bearings (at least rears) have never been a big deal on these cars IMO. I would jack up the rear and take a look, chances are you'll see a bushing or something out of whack. Quote
Dr.Fiero Posted September 6, 2006 Author Report Posted September 6, 2006 We're not talking a single 'thunk' though. It's rythmical, and road speed dependant. Like as if you had a rock in your tread. I flipped through the parts book anyhow - looks like it's a sealed hub unit back there anyhow. So much for repacking/replacing a bearing. If it gets worse I'll just grab one from the wreckers I guess. Quote
