Q-Ball
Well, yesterday after driving my gf to work, I was coming home and trying to make a light. But it went red, so i kinda had to use the brakes harder than I normally do. It was weird, I felt the car jerk side to side. Than when I got off the light I can hear and feel this clunking under my car. My cars E-Brake is F'ed up. The cable has always been loose. But now I can feel it shaking around under me and somewhere in the rear. Does it sound like anything you know whats wrong? Also, I pulled over to check out. I also noticed 2 mystery wires. 1 is near my air box. It just has 1 pin/plug with a red wire. The other has a connector on it and was found under my car near my tie rods. Somethings broke on it. I'll take a few pics this morning. Gotta move 2 cars and get my car jacked up. EDIT/Update. Well, I have replaced both rear sway bar clamps. Wasnt that hard. And I also took some pics of the thing that broke. I had 2 mystery wires, but I was told the one red wire near the battery does nothing. So here is the other one. Again, I originally found this near my drivers side tire tucked in near the outter tie rod.
THe_DeTAiL3R
I don't think it has anything to do with the ebrake (unless you actually used it..) THe one mystery wire under the hood w/ 1 connector isn't hooked up to anything. It's to run the fuel pump when the car is off... diagnostic purposes or something. Crazy K
The other has a connector on it and was found under my car near my tie rods. Somethings broke on it. near the tierod.... on the drivers side? are you saying it had part of a sensor hanging off of it? sounds like the sensor in the rack that raises the idle when you have your steering turned to either exterme at full lock. Well, its just hanging there. I got the car jacked up right now. The clip for the rear sway bar on the drivers side is snapped. No wondering making left hand turns made that sound. It sounded like the wheel wanted to come off. I still cant wonder how this is causing the e-brake to rattle so much more. Taking pics in a few min. I'll show you the cable hanging. Thanks! GP1138
Check all your brake calipers. It sounds like it's possible a bolt has come out of one of them.
Q-Ball
Alright, it was the for the sway bar. There is a piece that just holds it to the frame so it stays still. I went to a garage, since all the auto wreckers were closed. There was a 88-90 GP there. They said if anything I needed I could pull it off. So in the rain me and a couple of friends got the part I needed. Went back home in the rain and got it all fixed. Still cant take pictures as my camera is awol. THe_DeTAiL3R
Was that the bent piece you showed me before?
Q-Ball
Was that the bent piece you showed me before? No, that was the trailing arm. Well more bad news everyone! The other side to the rear sway bar clamp broke off too! I'm gonna pick up a used one tomorrow after work for the meantime.
Q-Ball
Ok, got the sway bar clamps fixed. Now on to figuring out what that wire is. Since I noticed it, I'm wondering if its for my cruise control?
GutlessSupreme
Definetly not for cruise control.. weird though, it doesn't look familiar... can you get a pic with the busted-ass sensor/piece/end off the plug? If I saw the plug itself more clearly I could put out a guess.. I may second Crazy w/ the rack's full-lock sensor.
RJansen658
CrazyK is correct. I just went outside and looked at the 92'.... It is definetly the P/S switch. Itis located on the drivers side of the rack, just below where the column coupler attaches. I took a pic.
Brian P
I think that switch just shuts off the A/C compressor when it's on, when turning the rack to either extreme. Doesn't exactly raise the idle, but my current car doesn't even have it.
Q-Ball
Awesome, thanks guys! BTW p/s = power steering? With this thing busted, what should it be causing?
RJansen658
Yes P/S=Power Steering. I was always under the impression that the P/S Pressure Switch raises the vehicle idle when high line pressure is sensed to prevent the engine from stalling. This is because as line pressure increases in the P/S system, so does the amount of effort required on the engines part to turn the P/S pump. If idle is low enough, the pump may be enough of a drag to stall the engine. But Brian P stated above that he believes the switch merely shuts off the A/C Compressor when high line pressure is sensed. I was also under the impression that idle also raises when the A/C compressor is active, so I can't quite see why it would shut it off....I think that would only lower idle further. The whole purpose of the switch, whatever method it uses, is to prevent the engine from stalling at idle because of the accesories demanding too much power from the engine. Q-Ball
Alright, so now we've narrowed it down, how can I fix it? From the pic, its a little blury, but when I look at that picture, I'm lost. Could you circle where it is? Thanks

I took a pic. he has his finger pointing to it. how much closer could he mark it??? the busted sensor is on the knob of the rack where everything connects, and it screws in on the drivers side. fix it? mehhh It doesn't appear too critical, but the sensor shouldn't bee too much. I'd cheap out on a used one personally, on not at all.... up to you.

Q-Ball
I thought that was a hand! I love you guys! I love the green too! I'm gonna take another look tomorrow after work. Any idea what the replacement part is called or #?
