Crazy K Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 If you have seen it, I have created a HUD information thread that has been transfered to FAQ. I would like to add the best pictures I can into this thread. heres that thread: (please do not post in it, Pm me if you have info to add instead) http://www.w-body.com/forum/index.php/topic,48675.0.html I also hope to compose a "features" internet page that may be incorporated into the main W-page (shawn, gnat-go-splat is welcome to the idea) to show the world about this feature of W-bodies. I hope this will be the first of serveral that I can compose. I would like the best pictures i can get of you HUDS, you HUD controls, (and E/M switches!) I also require a view of the info that your hud displays. Both of 'normal driving' and in test mode. For the test mode, which is when all the indicators light up when the HUD or KEY is turned on, I would prefer it with a black back ground. ALSO!!!! custom installation pics are welcome! Prize? You get your picture immortialized on W-body. I will select the best pics I can get. Rules? Has to be a picture that you took. No photos copyrighted by someone else. You can post them here if you choose, and/or you can submitt them to email: juggernautken(symbol at)yahoo.com subject: attn HUD photo What will i do with the pics? They will be inserted into the HUD thread, You will be given photo courtesy of credit and have you picture permanently displayed. I reserve the right to edit, resize, crop, and mark or watermark them. They may also be copied and hosted from an alternate site to protect them from loss. PLEASE STATE THE MODEL MAKE AND YEAR! Best photos will be copied and transposed here. 1st GEN HUD CS GP 2nd GEN HUD CS GP 3rd GEN HUD CS (prototype only) GP 4th GEN HUD GP custom installs GOOD LUCK! edit: since Regal_GS_1989 said he might have other other options to photograph, (I applaud him for the use of a tripod) and I already hinted at it... future items i will be writing up and want pictures of include SWRC, radios, DIC/DIS, instrument clusters, overhead consoles, climate control, seatbelts, and even seating options. and i think of something new every day. and last thought... i would like you to know that I am not including any photos of my own stuff. the contest is yours. slick Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 Great idea on the compilation of factory options. On the Legend forum, they created a thread about this with pictures of each option. Sometimes you can't believe how many different features a certain car could possibly have. Quote

Regal_GS_1989 Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 I'll snap some pics of my HUD tonight after it gets dark. I'm also going to attempt to use a tripod, so they should turn out really nice. My cutlass has all options available (minus leather? Not too sure if the internationals came standard with leather, and cloth as an option). And my regal has every option as well (minus RKE) I can work on getting you pics of the regal as well. Quote
Crazy K Posted August 31, 2006 Author Report Posted August 31, 2006 day or night for seeing what the HUD does... whatever works best. come on everybody! I'm going to try to do this so that the info page looks even better than what slick pointed us to. Quote

Ken, do you plan on having one page that lists every option with a photo, or a page that lists every vehicle, then you click that vehicle for a lits of options, then you click that option to take you to another page of info on that option? I would prefer it to be a table format, where each option must be entered. one column for each four makes of W-body, and each row is a diffferent feature. ie: CS | GP | regal | lumina/MC HUD W | W | | RADIO W | W | W | W SWRC W | W | W | W instrument cluster W | W | W | W climate control W | | | W each W is a link to a subpage, where the options are listed, oldest to newest. this way everythign is cut and clear, no digging through a bunch of crap to find what you want. good? I can supply pics of all units removed, except the88-90 gp one, but would rather see you guys fight for the best pic and your share of automotive imortallity. test mode occurs right when you turn the unit on. Some HUDS test mode when the keyis first turned on, and some if their diimmer switch is turned off and on again. Quote

Sounds like a good idea. Basically columns with the headings being the car. Then, the rows having the options, then if it was available for that car, a link in the appropriate column/row position to a page about it. Next question. Will this primarily be 1-1.5 gen stuff, or 2nd gen as well. If it is all gens, are you going to seperate them by gen, or just have them all combined into one table? Quote

Ken, I have few pictures of a '90 TGP/GP HUD removed from a car if you want those(one or two exterior shots, then some of the HUD w/ the case removed) The HUD has a piece of plexiglass held in w/ 3M double-sided tape I threw in there for the time being as the glass was cracked up...it's a spare for my TGP. http://images5.theimagehosting.com/IM003637.JPG http://images5.theimagehosting.com/IM003636.JPG http://images5.theimagehosting.com/IM003635.JPG http://images5.theimagehosting.com/IM003634.JPG http://images5.theimagehosting.com/IM003633.JPG http://images5.theimagehosting.com/IM003632.JPG http://images5.theimagehosting.com/IM003631.JPG http://images5.theimagehosting.com/IM003630.JPG http://images5.theimagehosting.com/IM003629.JPG http://images5.theimagehosting.com/IM003628.JPG http://images5.theimagehosting.com/IM003627.JPG http://images5.theimagehosting.com/IM003626.JPG http://images5.theimagehosting.com/IM003625.JPG http://images5.theimagehosting.com/IM003624.JPG http://images5.theimagehosting.com/IM003623.JPG http://images5.theimagehosting.com/IM003622.JPG Quote

Crazy K Posted September 2, 2006 Author Report Posted September 2, 2006 excellent pic John! is that a head on view of the image? I ask due to the slant. HEY ALL! I would like to see the best images of HUDS in the daylight, where you can see the unit, for the unit, without a caring about the projected image. You see, I'd like both! Quote
john99gtp Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 due to the debug mode being so short, i had to rest the camera on the dash. the other pic is somewhat straighter, you can tell by looking at the siding on the house. Quote
GP1138 Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 I have pics somewhere, but not of test mode. I'll have to get some. Quote
mfewtrail Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 '90 GP HUD http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y33/mfewtrail/90GPHUD.jpg I could not capture test mode at night as it's only on for a split second on my car. I can capture a picture of the test mode during the day though and use construction paper or the like if you insist on having a black background. I'll also take some pictures of the entire unit sitting on the dash later. Here's an extra pic w/ "check gauges" and the bright light indicator lit for now... http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y33/mfewtrail/90GPHUD1.jpg Quote
