94CutlassSLCoupe Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Hey all, I'm thinking about buying the ADDCO rear sway bar and also picking up some brackets from AWEB...I was wondering if you guys thought the Addco bar was worth it and if they've improved it enough by now. My car currently has the 14mm rear bar from a 92 Z34 in it, and it handles decent but still understeers a lot. I drive this car a lot in the winter and will be using the stock P215 60R16 tires in the winter (P245/45R17's in the summer). I'll be keeping the stock leaf in the back and also the stock height front springs for now. My leaf is a little saggy but its no big deal (car sits level) Just wondering what everyone's thoughts were. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 x2 on this. Come spring Ill be puttin in new rear hubs, and I might as well help the car out with a rear sway bar. Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 you'll notice a HUGE difference with that bar in. although, i had no bar at all beforehand. Quote
5speedz34 Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 I want to get one soon. Since when does Aweb make brackets? Quote
94CutlassSLCoupe Posted August 29, 2006 Author Report Posted August 29, 2006 rear stb brackets from aweb, sorry Quote
94CutlassSLCoupe Posted August 30, 2006 Author Report Posted August 30, 2006 where's a good place to order this from? Summit racing wouldn't ship this bad boy until sept 20th Quote
PCGUY112887 Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 They stock it on http://www.truckperformance.com Quote
Grand Moff Joseph Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 Are these ADDCO bars equivalent in size to the Z34 bar? Quote
cutlsp Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 Are these ADDCO bars equivalent in size to the Z34 bar? they are bigger........ Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 actually, it depends on the Z34. for example the '95 Brickyard Monte has a factory 22mm rear bar which is the same size as the Addco bar. Quote
Grand Moff Joseph Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 They stock it on http://www.truckperformance.com This site wants $148 for one. Is this a fair price? Quote
3carz34 Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 That price looks like the going rate, but if you want one don't figure on getting it to soon.I ordered one on june 12 and haven't seen it yet.Addco just keeps pushing the ship date back every week. I finally cancelled the order today, I'll worry about the swaybar next year. Brian Lester Holland, Mi. 92 Z-34 Quote

Guest TurboSedan Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 i didn't know that! i thought only the front bars were hollow. Quote

I have the order form to order straight from addco if anyone would like it... it's about $178 shipped from them. Quote
3carz34 Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 No, it was from performance center(one of addco's listed distributors).I think most of these places just drop ship from addco,I would be surprised if anybody actually stocks many of these parts, especially first gen sway bars . True, but the 95 Monte rear sway bars were hollow. Hollow bars flex more than solid ones. while that may be true, the wall thickness matters more than if its hollow or not since the bar is mostly under torsion, and the center of the bar is very lazy and doesn't add much strength Quote
AWeb80 Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 I want to get one soon. Since when does Aweb make brackets? but alas my friend....I made some diff inner hangers for my revised addco bar... It allows me to move the bar up and down to get the right height....instead of it being fixed.... I do have alot left over actually.... Pabz Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 Well I definitly need one for both my rides, maybe we can setup a group buy?? Quote
pwmin Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 yes, its worth it. just get brickyard inner hangers and energy universals for the outers. part numbers here: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2192176/8 (towards bottom). yes, the order them from addco. so, if you order one now will you get the revised bar or do you have to contact that guy still? Quote
Guest TurboSedan Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 Paul, i didn't see that PN for the rear outers on your cardomain...is that just the bushing or the clamp too? man, Addco hardware blows. the Addco outer clamps won't even fit my strut bolts. they drilled the bolt holes way off. i could use the Brickyard outers i have but they are so tall that it posistions the bar too far forward and the bar hits the 2 big nuts in the center for the lateral arms. i am going to either have to get new outers that fit or use GM outers and make my own inners. Quote
pwmin Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 95158. autozone stocks them. the bracket and bushing together. had to drill out the holes, but they've work great. shanes had them on his lumina for years with no problems. Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 I'm not too happy even with the revised Addco bar. It still clunkity clunks on big bumps. I think it needs to be a little wider still to clear the inner fenders. I'm not sure if that's where it's hitting, but that's my guess. Quote
