Brakes gave out

Was driving along yesterday and came to some construction and braked like usual and all I hear is this "pop" and the brakes gave out. Scared the hsit outta me, almost rammed the guy in front of me. If I push the pedal to the floor it will still brake, I have a feeling its one pad braking right now? because it pulls to the drivers side.

ABS causing me bullshit? If I take out the ralys for the ABS will it just be like having no abs? or do I take out the fuses?

The ABS light has been on since I bought it, I have no desire to make it ever work properly, seeing as it's junk in these cars anyways.

A friend of mine said his did this when he had it and the car went wild turning it on and off and he almost crashed. so he pulled the fuse or relays for ABS, just wanted to know which ones or all of them?

Sounds like to me you popped a brake line. Sounds exactly like what happened on my Sunfire when i broke the brake line. Look for leaking Fluid under the car

I wouldn't drive that car anywhere but to a garage or somewhere where you are going to get it worked on. Sounds like you blew a brake line and if you think you can stop safely like that....man...thats nuts.

I would deffinitly reccomend going to a shop immediatly before something else happens.

It has been made very clear to alot of the board member that when something goes wrong you do not keep driving your car because you can inflict even more damage then is neccassary.

I was pulling a car in at work and the pedal went to the floor, then I heard pssssssh. I had a pedal once it got to the floor but nothing after that. It blew a line.

My STE did this, then about a second later slammed into a chevrolet avalanche truck and did 9400 worth of damage.... Lost a pad on the drivers side, and blew a line.

good luck and don't drive it.

If the line was torn he wouldn't be able to brake at all with normal brakes

Because the master has an internal proportioning valve, he'll still have "use" of two brakes (left front + right rear OR right front + left rear) until the fluid runs out.

If you didnt blow a line, and you are just having an ABS problem, I unhooked the wores right at the brain of the ABS/brake cylinder.. My car stops just the same as it did with ABS, only without the whole non stopping nonsense.. But I got it checked later that week, and all checked out ok, it was the ABS controller thing that caused my problems..

x2 there's two different circuits

Yeah I wouldn't drive that anymore!

Thats nothing though. On my first car ( '59 Buick Invicta ), my dad SOLDERED one of the brake lines, it gave out, and I put her into a telephone pole. This was before dual master cylinders, so I had no brakes whatsoever. Lucky I wasn't going faster, but that car was a tank anyway.

I have no chice but to drive it, I just got the ownership for the gtp tonight so hopefully I can get a ten day tomorrow and drive that to work with my busted windshield. Fix one thing something goes the day after, I swear my car knows when I make money.

They usuall do know when you make some money, lol.

When the rear brake line blew on my Z, I could still lock up the front tires, just from left over fluid in the lines... GO STRAIGH TO THE SHOP!

If possible, have it towed by a tow truck.

As for the ABS problem... just pull the fuse in the glove compartment, problems solved... my '93 had a whacked wheel sensor or something, and it would make some "ssshhhhk click ssssshhhhk click" noises, and the lights would dim during the "sssshhhhhk", I unplugged the fuse, and problem went away...
