Bad IAC? or Something else?

Hey,

Ok, as I posted a few minutes ago I have my car back and only have one problem.

First off, the check engine light comes on after about 60 seconds worth of driving.

While driving the car is fine, couldn't be better, but when I come to a stop light the RPMS go up and down almost stalling the car (it won't totally stall if, but I hold the gas down to be safe and keep it around 1000rpm)

When I pull into drive way it will do it again untill I put it in park, then it revs down-up down and stalls, however if I rev up the engine before it stalls to about 2000rpm and back down, its fine, it idles right where it always has.

This evening I clean the IAC. To me it looked like a piston that goes in and out, I was able to push it in slightly and then it would slide back out, but it got jambed when I pushed it back in again, I couldn't even pull it out. I finished cleaning it and re-installed it in the car. When I started the car it revved way up and then back down and almost stalled again.

I just read in another thread about the Idle re-learn, I am wondering if this is what I have to do, or does it sound like its a bad IAC all together? The car sat for 2 months with a dead battery...

If I do have to replace the thing can anyone give me a part number? I need this issue fixed before Thursday, I have to go in for an e-test then!

Thanx

Jamie

I did the re-learn... maybe I pulled the wrong fuse of something because it made only a slight difference. My fuse panel stickers are really worn and I misplaced my owners manual, so I'm not 100% sure if I pulled the correct fuse...

Anyone have a good pic of the fuse panel lid for a 95 LQ1?

Best way to check the IAC would be remove it and leave it plugged in, then have someone turn the key to the on position without starting the car. The pintle should extend and then retract to a set position. If it doesnt freely move, then chances are it's bad. You could try cleaning the connector and applying some dielectric grease too, couldnt hurt.

Fuel pump relay is on the passenger side, its not quite as worn on the sticker...

I will double check though
