timing belt or chain?

LOllll well today i had to go to a shop, i hate doing that, but i did cuz i had to get my car inspected for the first tmie (only paid 10.50 hookups) and the dude there was mad funny cuz he said i had timing chains and not belts, but i thought i had belts and it looks like i do, so wtf is it? belts or chains on the 3.4 dohc ?

 

and even more interesting lol he said i had variable valve timing like a vtec lol i hope hes wrong cuz i was laughin my ass off and i hope it wasnt for nothing.

belt on 3.4DOHC

 

chain on pushrod 60* engines

 

dunno about the newer DOHC engines (3.5, 3.6 etc)

the 3.4 has a chain and belts the belt drives the intermadite shaft that sits in the center of the block

i made a mistake the interadite shaft has the chain it conects by a chain and two sprockets to the crank shaft behind the front cover

and yea i never get work done at the shop, but sadly New york wont let me pass my own car in inspection rofl

 

my main reason is cuz of ther ass raping service u get and crappy parts, u cant blame them,, but i jsut cant afford such crap, like today i went to parts store were my bro works and got some dsicots, check it out

 

 

tune up stuff like

 

ingition wires, 154 reg i got for 60 even brand new

the main belt from serpentine , 54 bucks got it for 23 even

air filter was 15 got it for 10 even

something else idk i forgot it was 23 i got it for 13 even

spark plugsfrom ngk i got for 5 a piece they are 12 regulary

and a dog bone engine mount for 12 bucks says 54 on listbut i could never pay 54 for that crap

I would RUN as fast as possible from that shop because obviously that guy doesn't know dick about our LQ-1s.

but it does have both, but the belt is what you have to check every once in a while, the chain shouldnt ever give you any problems, as that's hardly ever an issue

ok cool, so in a way hes kinda right? about the chain thing, but yea hes pretty dumb too idk, im not so smart on these lil things either but then agian im 18 and im not supposed to be

 

 

 

hey btw i painted my wheels black last night, came out real nice and the lip relaly stands out nice now, and with a black car, it really goes well almost like it came from the factory like that
