blkinternational
when i riped apart my engine to fix the blown headgasket i disconected a wire. well atleast i thought i disconected it, it looks as if i broke it? and my tempiture gauge isnt working so im guessing this is why. the wire end is a square and it looks like its broken off and it wont connect back into the sensor. went to autozone/murrays the new one already has the wire attachted. i cant figure out how i would put a rachet on it and screw it back into the black when the wire is on it here is a link to said pics http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f127/blkinternational/Picture514.jpg http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f127/blkinternational/Picture515.jpg
ToroToro
You need to get a sensor socket with a slit down the side. You can get them in kits with all sorts of sizes.
Crazy K
I have always just used a wrench on them, and yes, I know the space is tight.
Mach 5
That plugs in below the rear valve cover by the egr. I would rotate the engine and see if you can fit a socket on there. If not, maybe buy a universe rachet style wrench that will fit. -Did you have any trouble getting everything back together? I hope it all worked out well. ToroToro
Nope...not for a month or so. It's sitting here in the driveway with the heads off right now. Part of the reason haven't been on here is because I've been helping my kid with that, and this has been going on for a week now... The 3100 is being quite the snake on my plane. ToroToro
Bad head gaskets, filthy/bad injectors and an insanely loose rocker. Thing was banging like all hell. And this is a 109K mile motor.

Mach 5
Its a job, but its all worth it in the end. So what brand of gaskets did you end up going with?
rjtiminskygtp
A buddy of mine just replaced his gaskets...it took him 2 weekends but he did it, and it was really worth it for the end result.
Mach 5
It is definitely worth it. I just wish my injectors didn't fail on me after I had reassembled everything. A total of 13hrs of work can really take a toll on somebodys back.

Mach 5
Did you hit the hood latch? That thing was pissing me off. I didn't remove the hood though.
blkinternational
i dunno how the hell i hit the hood i hit it every time i stood up stright again mostly the corners... taking it off makes it so much easyer to do everything including spark plugs.. Mach 5
I probably should have done that. Didn't think of it.
1990lumina
I'd hate to take the hood off.....how do you get it perfectly aligned again???
blkinternational
all i did was align it up with the marks the washer made
Guest TurboSedan
i always scribe around the hood hinges with a screwdriver before i pull it off, that way i can easily align it when i put it back on.
