gmrulz4u Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 First of all, when is an EGR Valve supposed to ON/Open? Because while scanning my Cutlass tonight, I saw that my ECM showed the EGR went OFF/Closed while still accelerating? I thought that whenever your foot is on the Gas pedal, no matter how hard, the EGR should be ON/Open? Secondly, I've noticed that if I put my car in reverse, and step on the gas fairly hard to accelerate backwards, I hear and feel a pretty bad grinding sound!? Is my reverse gear on it's last legs or something?? THANKS! Quote
JS91Z34 Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 The EGR position will vary depending engine load and throttle position. The EGR valve should open upon deceleration and close just before idle, regardless of speed. The grinding could be from a weak/broken motor mount putting a strain on the drivetrain. Quote
